Tweedy jacket + plain trousers= interview outfit?

Or is this a bad idea?

I really don't want to buy a cheap suit, but don't have much cash; could I get away with a lovely tweedy jacket like this and plain black or grey tailored trousers and a smart white or grey blouse for an interview?

I asked dh and he is hopeless- what was I thinking? Hmm

What is the interview for?
Im sure it would look smart enough but it depends upon what you are going for.

It is in the 'heritage industry' so doesn't need to be too smart I hope

Sounds fine to me.

Well if you dont think it needs to be overly formal..i would go with it. Its definetly smart enough. What kind of clothes will you wear if you get the job? I always think thats quite a good guide.

I think with a crisp white shirt, that would look great.

I think there is likely either to be a uniform or smartish casual kind of academicy smart iykwim?-

If I was a man I would have elbow patches...
