Tea dresses, how to style them?

Are they even still in style? I hope so, as they suit me.
I'm just not sure what to wear with [http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191283118115?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&var=490400866434&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT this] for example - can I wear brown boots (bike boots), and what colour of tights? A cardigan? Will I look like I'm just heading off to the local WI to discuss jam recipes and cake sales?

I have a grey one in a similar style - can I wear brown boots with pale grey or would I be better with black?

That's lovely. For inside I'd wear it with leggings or tights, flat shoes and a fitted cardigan. No idea for outside though, sorry
