Wore my brand new Jimmy Choo's to a wedding for a total of six hours. When I took them off, I noticed that about 1.5cms from the tip of the sole had literally just peeled off. Took them back to the boutique in Edinburgh where I had bought them and they refused to refund or exchange, citing shoes were

Essentially, the product has tone 'for for purpose' and it is very reasonable that the shoes should last for more than 6 hours at a wedding. (6 hours rock climbing would not be fit for purpose!!)

Your claim is with the retailer, not the manufacturer. Do you still have the receipt, was it a recent purchase? Get briefed up on your facts and tights and then go back to the retailer again. Take notes of all converstations, photograph the damage, the receipt etc. Are they an independent boutique? I live in Edinburgh so will swerve them if this is their customer service!

Believe me, I wrote letters, I went to C.A.B. (who were not much help). I should have taken it to the small claims court, but because the retailer said they would replace the soles on the shoes, and I would be getting back shoes 'as new' I agreed to the repair. This was not the case, but by then so much time had elapsed and I had agreed to the repair, so legally the retailer had resolved the issue. Yes it was an independent luxury shoe boutique in Edinburgh. It's really put me off ever dealing with a small shop again.
