Acne Pistol - alternative

You lot got me looking at these lovely Pistols the other week and I can't stop thinking about them. I could buy them, but before I blow the budget does anyone know of any other similar boots which cost a bit less. the best price I've found is £323. If I found something even for £200 I'd feel good about myself!

Remit is an ankle boot, not too fancy (in terms of zips / tassles / studs), probably black, not too high a heel so I can wear with skinny jeans and skirts but will be comfy and not uber dressy.

Any ideas please?

I've got both Acne Pistol and Acne Star boots and MUCH prefer the star boots.

I agree with this. The Star boots are much nicer but the Pistols are good too.

mejon · 31/10/2014 16:11

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't see much difference between these and the famed Pistols apart from around £200 and a slightly lower heel.

QueenQueenie · 31/10/2014 16:32

I'm toying with the idea of these beauties - with 15% off and the current £50 offer on there.... thoughts?

leedy · 31/10/2014 16:35

I think the main difference I've found between Pistols and similar boots is that they're very comfortable for a boot with a heel (I am normally an avowed non-heel-wearer) and they appear to be basically indestructible.

Onedropoflove · 31/10/2014 18:36

I'm looking for a boot I can wear dresses with. My Clarkes ones have lasted seven years! I love the ones you are linking but I just don't know if I can justify it. Can they be seen in rl anywhere?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/10/2014 18:53

Just the one, Onedrop? Grin

Clarks have some nice ones, I think, and they do tend to last well.

peasandlove · 31/10/2014 19:09

those dune ones are a good copy

Onedropoflove · 31/10/2014 19:12

I can't wear Dune. Their sizes just don't fit me properly. Probably something to do with my bunion!

peasandlove · 31/10/2014 20:21

im giving myself bunions by squeezing my hooves into boots like these Wink

CointreauVersial · 31/10/2014 21:20

Wow, QQ, they are quite a statement.

(you could carry them off, though Smile )

QueenQueenie · 31/10/2014 22:19

Aw, ta CV! They are rather calling to me... and it is my birthday quite soon....

whostimeisitanyway · 31/10/2014 23:49

Does anyone know if the Pistols come up small/ large or true to size please?

ZaraW · 01/11/2014 05:50

True to size on me but a lot of reviews I have read said they come up big. Sorry not much help!

mysteryfairy · 01/11/2014 07:36

I got the grey shearling ones from my wardrobe when they did 20% off acne (plus the code obviously). They are definitely true to size but I think the shearling might have made them snugger as I remember non shearling ones being looser.

I hope my wardrobe are ok given the volume of discounts. Would be gutted if they go.

I would say basically true to size but a shade large (ie. a roomy fit for the size but not the wrong size). They only do full sizes though not half sizes.

A good tip btw is that even if you don't want to buy from them, check the relevant shoes at Net-a-porter and look at the "size and fit" tab which is very good. I buy shoes from them a lot and never found that info to be inaccurate. If it says "half a size up/down" it is spot on.

I just checked and for pistols it says true to size and go UP to the nearest size if you are a half size.

whostimeisitanyway · 01/11/2014 09:58

Thank you v much everyone.

self- if you look at the Net a Porter advice it varies between the black and navy suede pistols (one says size up, other size down)!

Cranagh · 01/11/2014 12:40

Mysteryfairy, I have heard they are in trouble. I hope they don't go under, most of my wardrobe comes from my-wardrobe!

whostimeisitanyway, I found they used to run large but are fairly true to size now.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2014 13:38

Check out www.sevenbootlane.com

Handmade, various styles. I'm getting a pair as also can't justify Acne Pistols. Not at the moment anyway.

SelfLoathing · 01/11/2014 17:06

If you are sure you are buying the same "model" (ie. same version, same colour, same season), then I would follow their advice. I've never known it to be wrong and I've bough . . . ahem . . .a lot of shoes from them.

leedy · 01/11/2014 19:29

I sized down on mine - I'm a 6.5 and the 6 is bang on in the black leather version.

BonaDea · 02/11/2014 20:05

I bought them! Wearing them to work tomorrow and excited!!

Ooh tempted by the Dune ones, they look very good. I also struggle with Dune sizing though, their 4 is tiny and their 5 massive.. might order and see.

toptrumps1 · 03/11/2014 09:58

I think the pistols are a touch large, not wrongly sized as someone else said, maybe true to size with a think sock!

Having said that, I didn't find them that comfortable and sold mine on eBay in Ex Con for £180, so you should def look there if you want real ones cheap. Personally though, they have been around for years now, and I think higher leg boots are creeping back in, so maybe buying a cheaper version would be a more prudent option?

mrsrhodgilbert · 03/11/2014 16:19

I've been watching this with interest too and have ordered the Dune pair, via Amazon! They've had a promotion on for the last week so were discounted. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow. The reviews are a bit mixed but Dune usually fit me.
