I've been reading great things on the beauty blogs about Liquid Gold. I'm contemplating purchasing it. Has anyone got any good/bad stories about it?

Also am I as well only getting Liquid Gold or should I get the full set thing like this here

Thanks in advance. Thanks

I use it twice a week. You ought to use a sunscreen with it tbh. That set looks good value but it also slots easily into any skincare routine on its own.

For 2 or 3 nights a week use this after cleansing and don't put anything over the top of it as it dilutes the effect. I sometimes use it every other night if my skin is being arsey.

HTH

Clarabumps · 27/10/2014 11:54

Thanks Clackety, I know the selling point was the fact it was a SPF 50. I currently use Clarins SPF 30 on my skin when not wearing makeup. This could be shout then.

It's wonderful stuff!

It felt so weird at first just swiping it on like toner then not following it up with moisturiser but it works so well that on the mornings after I've used it my skin is really clear, plump and juicy looking - pretty good for someone with crappy crepey 40 Shock year old skin!

It does a good job at declogging the crap in nose pores too Grin Will start my winter routine soon of alternating retin A one night and LG the next - that combo takes a while for skin to get used to but it pretty much erased a lot of my fine lines after a few months!

I very rarely use foundation anymore, just moisturise and use the tinted La Roc Posay SPF 50.

FrancesHB · 27/10/2014 12:24

I do. It's amazing. Makes your skin all glowy and young looking.

Clarabumps · 27/10/2014 12:42

It's my huuuuuuge pores and acne scarring that are my main concern. My skin just generally looks a bit lumpy and porridgey looking. Great description- I know. It's just good to know that it works with 'real people'.
Off to dig out my debit card and buy it then. I think I can send it back to QVC if I don't like it anyway.

I love it, it does take a while to get used to not using anything else after it. Also I found it works best for me 2 nights a week rather than 3.

The SPF50 in that kit is their newest one and is brilliant.

If it's large pores & scarring the scrub (microcleanse) in that kit is brilliant too. Use 2 or 3 mornings a week and leave on for a couple of minutes.

squoosh · 27/10/2014 13:54

Start gently, don't splash it on with gay abandon, it's not for the sensitive skinned.

Clackety · 27/10/2014 15:31

I have sensitive skin and it's fine for me.. Use it once a week to start and if you're nervous dampen the cotton wool slightly for the first few goes. Soon you'll welcome the tingle as you'll know it's working.

VarsityQueen · 27/10/2014 15:34

Best product I've ever used. Controls grease, clears spots. The other one in that set is good, the Micro Cleanse too. I've never even had any tingling and I put it on neat with my hands but yes probably better to proceed with a bit more caution for the first few times. Also use on neck and hands.

Only thing Ive noticed is that using this with a strong SPF can make you look a bit pale (all my freckles have faded away) but probably only a problem if you are very pale to begin with.

CecyHall · 27/10/2014 15:34

Does absolutely nothing for me. Seriously I might as well just put water on my face rather than use it, I was so disappointed!

Truckingalong · 27/10/2014 18:00

Does nothing for me either and I too am disappointed.

Clackety · 27/10/2014 18:09

May I ask those it didn't work for what they expected and how long they used it for?

It's my HG skincare product but then I am 50!

For me it plumps up my skin, makes me look well rested in the morning and works as a liquid exfoliant. It refines my skin and knocks painful hormonal bumps on the head. I wouldn't be without it, I've used it for 5 years+

Truckingalong · 27/10/2014 18:56

I have low expectations as I'm realistic about skin care and really only advocate Botox and fillers as treatments that make a difference. However, based on others feedback, I expected perhaps smoother skin, a small reduction in the number of spots and better clarity. However, several weeks in, there is literally NO change.

Clarabumps · 27/10/2014 19:16

I'm no stranger to an acid so hopefully I should be okay. I've been using an acid toner as part of my skincare regime for the past 6 weeks and I have noticed a difference in pore appearance. I'm 33 and don't have wrinkles (yet) but my scarring more than makes up for that. Bloody spots shakes fist

I'm actually really excited about this now.

Clara, check out prolagene gel by decleor for acne scarring too-I haven't used it for scarring but it gets rave reviews

What a disappointment Trucking, I've been really pleased with under the surface spots.

Clarabumps · 28/10/2014 08:31

Thanks Clackety, I'll have a look at that.

It is so disappointing when a 'wonder product' doesn't work for you. I was like that with my Clarisonic. Persevered but nothing but loads of excess oil.

I spent a fortune on stuff after reading reviews on Caroline Hirons' website and hydraluron did nothing for me but dry out my skin!

CecyHall · 28/10/2014 09:05

Yy nothing that Hirons has recommended has done anything for me, I've learnt my lessons now!

SofaCanary · 28/10/2014 11:41

Hydraluron dried me out too, it's supposed to do the opposite, how weird!

I get on better with oils, always go back to Decleor Neroli.

Clarabumps · 28/10/2014 12:11

I've used quite a few things recommended by Caroline Hirons. So far it's working for me but I think skincare is just trial and error isn't it?
I've had success with hydraluron but it's done absolutely nothing for my friend. I was a bit Blush after raving about it for so long.
I've ordered that prolagene gel from QVC too. Argh, spent a fortune this month.

Has anyone been reading any other beauty blogs that have given advice that has worked for them?

CremeDeSudo · 19/03/2015 13:07

Clara, how have you found liquid gold?

I'm also trying to get rid of acne scarring but nervous of spending so much! Would you recommend??

MoustacheofRonSwanson · 19/03/2015 14:31

Been thinking about Liquid Gold, so thanks for link to the kit, much better value!

In case it helps the people who see no benefit from a hydraluron, I read somewhere is you put a product with hylaronic acid on over a water based product (e.g. bit of rosewater toner, or even just slightly damp face) and under an oil based one, it helps your skin retain moisture, if you put it on a dry face with no oil to lock it is, it draws the water out of your face.

So I double oil cleanse with olive/avocado oil, then rose water spritz, bit of moisturiser with hylaronic acid in it (Lavera wild roses intensive one, plus a bit of their Mint Pore Refiner fluid on cheeks, both have hylaronic acid in them), then a bit of cameilla oil or rosehipoil/jojoba oil/rose absolute blend on top to lock in the moisture, plus a little bit of castor oil on acne scars/rosacea. A week in to doing that I noticed a big difference in fine lines, pores very much smaller, acne scars on cheek diminished, rosacea calmed and a general return to plump, smooth radiance I haven't seen in 4 years (I'm 39).

CremeDeSudo · 19/03/2015 15:52

Just realised how much cheaper it is on QVC! how come?! I'm surprised Amazon is so much dearer..

Y0rkshirePudding · 19/03/2015 16:43

I have oily spot-prone sensitive skin with some old acne scars and rosacea - I've tried Liquid Gold as well as La Roche Posay's Effaclar set and all have dried my skin causing redness, soreness, uncomfortable tightening, flaking and even more spots... this was after taking advice from Caroline Hirons. Can't say I'm personally impressed and quite a few quid short too!

daftyburd · 19/03/2015 17:14

I have rosacea so was very apprehensive about using it. First time using LG I nearly washed it off. It tingles a fair bit. I really thought it would cause a flare up. Within a week my skin has looked the best it's done in years and years. I even go to shops and school minus foundation these days!
