I've decided to spend a bit on a great new foundation and some other bits of make-up. I'm pregnant with a 2 year old and so style and beauty has taken a bit of a back seat lately! I'm fair (blonde) with pale skin (not excessively dry or oily) and am looking for recommendations for good foundation, blusher, lipstick etc. Any ideas?

I'd probably go to a couple of make up counters and ask them to make you over.

I use clinique tinted moisturiser, but I know some mumsnetters don't like it.

Thanks, I will do that but hoping for a few recommendations so I can decide which counters to go to! I used to like Clinique and Benefit, but I think there is probably something better out there for me now.

I use Lancôme foundation, blusher and mascara as I've never found anything better for staying power, but then Chanel eye shadows and nail varnish for the colours.

I often skimp on powder and lipstick as have never found much difference between the various brands, so just look for whatever's on offer or for a colour I like.

I use a Benefit pore minimiser under my foundation because I had a voucher to use. It's good but I've never used one before so haven't got anything to compare it to and will probably try a different one next time.

I'd make an appointment at a Lancôme counter as a starting point.

Bobbi brown. She is the queen of skin. After a session at one of their counters you'll want to spend a fortune (don't like her mascaras though)

I love the pore minimiser!! Definitely don't completely rule benefit out.

Do you have a space NK near you? I always find the people who work there really helpful, they can spend more time with you and try a variety of brands rather than just the one. Nars is fantastic, their foundation is not too heavy but leaves my skin looking brighter and dewy, their Laguna bronzer is also a brilliant light attracting bronzer.

Ellis Faas does lovely lipstick, concealer and foundation if you are in London they are at Selfridges or Liberty.

Mac for blushers and natural lipstick.

FYI if you need pore help - benefit always have samples of their pore filler, I never bother buying because they last so long.

try nars really strong colours that last.

I love YSL touché foundation. I've tried Chanel bobbi brown Clinique and numerous others other the past few years but this is my favourite
