Which GHD straighteners?

I have very long, thick, naturally curly, very frizzy hair. I've always worn my hair curly but have been styling it into smooth loose waves recently with an InStyler (a heated brush that rotates). That's nice, but my hair looks 'big' (not in a good way) until the next day.

I went to the hairdresser yesterday and he styled my hair with some wide-plated GHDs ... OMG, my hair is smooth and ao shiny!

I would now like some GHDs, but don't know which ones would suit me best between GHD V Gold Max Styler or GHD IV Salon Styler.

There's not much between them, price-wise. What is the difference between each model? Which would suit my hair best?

I'd get a GHD eclipse which regulates the temperature so it is optimum for straightening.

My top tip for hairdresser straight hair is that you need to run a comb through your hair in front of the straightner at the same time you move it over your hair "guide" the hair into it flat. My hairdresser told me this and is a good tip. If you are right handed, it's very easy to do on the right hand side of your head but a bit trickier on the left. Once you get the hang of it, it's very good.

Here under "Stylers" there are FAQs about the different types.

I've just been reading about the Eclipse: it has a constant temperature of 185 degrees.

Does that imply that other straighteners get hotter thw longer they're switched on?

I had the wise plate GHDs then they broke. Dd lent me her babyliss freedom ones which have variable temp up to 200 I think, and they're honestly better. I never thought I'd say it, having used ghds for ten years, but they're quicker, smoother, and a third of the price.
