Long lasting nail varnish!

I wish I could afford to keep having gels, but I can't justify it at the moment being on mat leave.

I'm tired of painting my nails for it to chip the same or next day! The most recent was a No. 7 polish. They just all seem rubbish. Surely there must be some that last a few days...although i guess I do push them to the limit with kiddie bathing, play etc!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a nail varnish that doesn't chip within minutes of application and looks professional / shiny etc? Thank you!

I like OPI with Seche Vite top coat. It dries quickly and lasts reasonably well. My other favourite is CND Vinylux. It has to be used with the Vinylux top coat and it lasts really well. The downside is it's not as shiny as some others - I keep meaning to try it with the Seche Vite topcoat on top.

Definitely not Chanel, it's rubbish.

Honestly I find the cheaper polishes are fine, and by cheap I mean supermarket own brand.

The Barry M girlish nail varnishes are pretty hard wearing if you do a good 3 coats

pinkangelita · 20/10/2014 20:21

Gelish not girlish!

I find that I can get any nail varnish (even cheaper ones) to last without chipping so long as I use the seche vite top coat, and it makes then crazy shiney too. It's £9 a bottle.

Another vote for Seshe Vite, 2 coats of nail varnish then Seshe Vite.
I caught my finger at work last week making a big dent in my nail but my nail varnish didn't chip. I usually buy from Amazon for between £5 and £6 Smile

I need Seche Vite. I have recently abandoned gels as as money saving exercise and the Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat which is allegedly nom chip bloody well isn't. I've just ordered some of the Avon gel style nail polish but am yet to try it out.

I'm addicted to buying nail polish.
Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy in Doubledown is my current favourite. Very Autumn. I always put a clear top coat on as well.

Rimmel Lasting Finish is also good, got nearly two full weeks out of that one.
Barry M Gelly was ok, but only for one week

Seche Vite is £5.95 in ebay shop with free p&p

Sorry OP- jumping in on your thread...all these glowing recommendations for Seche Vite have persuaded me, so I've just ordered one from eBay.

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 22/10/2014 20:37

All you newbie seche vite-ers... You apply it thickly straight on top of the newly polished nail... You don't have to wait for the colour to have dried first, it will not drag down the coloured varnish.
