Shrinking wool

Hi lovely people,

Wanted some advice with shrinking a 98% virgin wool jacket. I know I should have bought it in my size but it was sold out and was the only one left and I just HAD to have it, and it's 3 size bigger than my normal size. I know it is not recommended but if I wash the jacket with hot water and dry it on high heat, I know there will be shrinkage, the problem is that the jacket has polyester lining, anyone know what will happen to that? will it shrink too? xx

Nooooooo - don't do it.

The lining will not shrink. The whole thing will become shapeless and horrible, and is unlikely to fit you anyway.

If you really love the jacket, take it to a tailor and get it altered.

Tailoring is the only option. Shrinking will be uneven and unpredictable, the lining won't shrink and the whole texture and drape of the jacket will change.

Oh God no, you'll ruin it!
