Dress code for Gilbert Scott restaurant

Has anyone been to the GS restaurant at St Pancras Hotel?
If so what is the dress code and how formal is it? Could I get away with smart trousers ( or possibly a dress) and do men have to wear suits?
Looking at a family celebration but don't want anything too formal or stuffy.
If this is not the best forum here maybe you can suggest another one?

I would just call the restaurant and ask them.

I went there recently - I actually went wearing ripped jeans but with a crisp white shirt and Valentino shoes and I didn't feel out of place. You'd be totally fine in smart trousers or a dress. I think as long as you look smart and well put together, most things would be fine.

Thanks. There is no dress code advertised and TripAdvisor says smart casual is fine.

Amber- is the food okay? Very mixed reviews online including tables being too close together for any privacy.

My friend who went for her birthday dinner with her husband didn't think much of the food or atmosphere. She said she wouldn't go again - sorry to be negative.

ok- any main things that she didn't like?

I was in jeans the last time I went.

To be honest I don't really remember, I know she had been really looking forward to it & was disappointed. I could text her if you like?

Just to agree with everyone else on clothes - anything that isn't scruffy is fine, including jeans. London tends to be pretty informal. Do recall not very good reviews of food in the papers but can't remember the detail, I'm afraid. Food-wise, I think you could do better, though obviously the location is good, specially if people are coming into St Pancras or Kings Cross.

I really enjoyed my meal there.
I found there was a mix of dress styles.
I wore smart trousers and a nice top. My friends wore fab dresses.
I wouldn't have felt uncomfortable in jeans.

Thanks for all the comments.
Location is reasonably important and we were going to meet at the bar there perhaps so wondered what the food was like.
I don't like being cramped so if that's the case, maybe it's a no- but it as always there are mixed reviews!

I was disappointed in the food. The bar is nice though.

I wore jeans and a jacket.

Have you thought about caravan?
