How do you do your eye make up?

I sometimes feel I am in a rut.
I use one colour- sometimes 2- on the eyelid and crease. Currently using Bobbi Brown Cement or Grey.
I've noticed that most younger women seem to use a very pale almost nude tone on the whole eyelid then a darker colour in the socket. This doesn't do anything for me though. I've got grey-green eyes. After putting on eye shadow I use a soft crayon to line the upper lid and a tiny fine line on the bottom lashes- is that now dated?
I then use quite a lot of mascara because I have zero lashes.

My standard look is a neutral shade from my Urban Decay Naked set over lid and up to brow. Strengthen up my brows with a dark Bobbi Brown shadow. Black liquid eyeliner on upper lid - little flick. Black mascara. No liner or mascara on lower lid - think it's too ageing and fussy. Going out I like a smoky eye (Naked set also perfect for this) or strong upper lid eyeliner - metallic green is good.

I use a neutral colour, hardly shows at all just neutralises the eye lids then line the lash line and tons of mascara.

I am utterly low maintenance.

Shu uemera eyelash curlers & waterproof mascara. Done. No eyeshadow day to day, I wear glasses and it just gets lost.

For a day look I use MAC (Handwritten) brown eye shadow to colour and shape eyebrows, MAC (Nylon) or Chanel (ivory) shadow on eyelid (I find neutral colours on the lid gives you a fresher more youthful look) Eyeko eyeliner which I load gradually onto a eyeliner brush and work from the pupil to the outer edge to give a slight cat eye flick and finish with Eyeko Black Magic mascara on upper and faintly on lower lashes to complete the look.

How about visiting a counter? They could show you how to apply etc. If you don't want to buy, ask them to write down what they've used and you just want to see how well it last/see if it looks too much with work clothes (or use your own excuse!!)

Standard is a neutral colour over eyelid/above eye, then black shadow mixed with water to paint on a cat eye flick (Alexa Chung style according to MN). Sometimes I'll do a dark grey/black blended shadow on the lid/under eye for smokey eyes. All Mac. NARS and Laura Mercier.

Makeup addict :D
I stick to a similar sort of "shape" with eyeshadow and liner but use different colours. This is every day makeup with coppers/reds and second photo is more bronzes and browns

Why not sit with your colours and just apply as you see fit. A good mirror, good light and an eye-palette (I have two of the Sleek ones, lovely colours ). Have a 'play' build up colour, wipe off , start again.

I found by accident that a Body Shop teal and a Barry M metallic purple pencil looks amazing with my eyes (brown/hazel) but I'd never in a month of Sundays wear teal clothes.

I can only wear mascara on my top lashes, my weirdy bottom lashes are too long so I look a bit porcelain doll if I do top/bottom.
Eyelash curlers are a must (but I only wear make-up 2-3 times a week)

Generally a smudge of soft pencil, whatever colour catches my eye, mascara on curled lashes and eyebrow crayon or Gimme Brow.
Eyeshadow if I'm putting in an effort

My eyes are grey-green as well. I use Bobbi Brown "bone" all over up to the brow, then "beige" over the lid. And then in the daytime either "stone" in the crease, or "black plum" along the lash line. For evenings I go for "velvet plum" (a gorgeous mid-deep brown with bronzey shimmer and a hint of purple) on the lash line. I keep it fairly subtle. I find that using very dark or heavy eye makeup doesn't work for me- I think because I have light-coloured eyes but quite dark brows.

Another vote for Urban Decay's Naked palette. I use neutral then darker shade on the lid, I line the to lid with a brush and I push the liner in so it just joins the lashes and doesn't look like a line as such.

I wear less as I get older.

For everyday I use Anastasia dip brow pomade in my eyebrows (which is a total gamechanger, it's amazing!).
Then usually a nude colour from the Urban Decay Naked 2 or 3 palette, maybe a little of a glittery/ darker shade as a cut crease if I have time.
Then a nice glossy black flick of eyeliner on my top lid and a coat or two of mascara. Nothing on my lower lashes as it makes me look tired!

I highly recommend the Naked palettes - I use no 2 daily - have had it over 18 months now. I usually pop a paler colour over my lid with a darker shade in the sockets (I know you don't like this - what about on the outer corner of your lid? ). This depends on what I'm wearing - if I go cool or warm with colours. I then use a dark brown liquid liner (like a felt tip) to do upper lid liner - tiny flick for daytime - big for night out. Lashing of black mascara ( I like Benefit).
