Nice warm jumper to throw on?

The impossible search - to find warms things in winter...

1 needs to be made of decent materials.

2 with a bit of stretch? So that I can layer it over thinner long sleeved t-shirts without feeling like I'm wearing too much.

3 with shape! I have to emphasise my waist or I look awful as I have a short body.

4 chunky knit rather than thin? Not sure about this

Thank you!

A chunkier knit with shaping is always going to be trickier to find.

I like uniqlo merino for fine knit, and it seems to be fairly close fitting.

DreamerOfStars · 17/10/2014 18:34

I have the Uniqlo fine knit ones and love them, but want to be able to put another number over the top (I'm outside a lot).

I had one that lasted years - there was enough stretch in it that it was form fitting, but could be worn alone or over several layers. I just can't seem to find anything like it again.

I've got 3 of the M&S lambswool jumpers, they're nice and warm (and cheap too)
I size up 2 sizes so they're not snug like on the m&s site.

Sorry I can't link... Stupid phone...

White stuff have some nice jumpers this year. I bought this and it's lovely www.whitestuff.com/mobile/womens/knitwear/green-apple-cross-cable-jumper/

This has great reviews (White Stuff)
www.whitestuff.com/womens/knitwear/pink-rocking-jumper/
It's 80% lambswool (may be a little itchy but with a layer underneath that shouldn't be an issue and should add extra warmth!) If you like it, I know someone on the promotions/ voucher codes board (under money) posted a link to a magazine where you can enter your name and email (there is a bit where you can say you want to attend an event on 2nd Oct! Been and gone, so just scroll and click 'I'd rather not' (it's something like that) and you still get sent the 15% off code that's valid til the end of the month! I did it last night. They have gorgeous tights so I ordered a pair of those too to get free delivery (free del over £50 and free UK returns).
This is no good for you now...but you should do what I do: invest in great quality knits in the Jan sales and save for the next winter :)

Woolovers

Ignore the somewhat frumpy styling, there are some good basics in attitude of colours at reasonable prices. The cashmere/merino blend is lovely.

soundevenfruity · 18/10/2014 11:28

Sainsbury's cashmere. Warm, cheap and stretchy (obviously).

DreamerOfStars · 18/10/2014 18:57

Thank you! I'll have a look at these.

I always feel 'hemmed in' my jumpers these days, I don't know why - it's not a sizing issue, I'm happy to buy a bigger size. Sleeves never feel long enough to be cosy, for example.

Ooooh jumpers.
I was searching yesterday, I want a chocolate brown and a hunter green in a wool mix.
But they all seem to be taupe/biscuit/sage

What's in Sainsburys colour-wise?

DreamerOfStars · 19/10/2014 21:14

Is this green too light?

juniper colour

I second Woolovers.

DreamerOfStars · 19/10/2014 21:41

How long are the woolovers jumpers? I prefer slightly longer to shorter. thanks.

The Boden ones aren't fitted though. I like the woolover woollen cardigans, thank you for that link, BikeRS, much cheaper than Boden etc as well.

DreamerOfStars · 19/10/2014 23:33

I've ordered some woolover jumpers! 2 merino and cashmere (how cheap compared to other shops?)

I also ordered two thick 'unisex' ones.. I was a bit unsure about the unisex labels, but 80% of the time I'll be at the park or cold beach, so warmth wins out. I just hope they are ok to wear in public, though! I got my tape measure out, so hope they're snug enough to be form fitting.

Thanks!
