Skin tone + make up

This is partly inspired by the HoC threads, but isn't about HoC.

I have always struggled with whether I have cool or warm toned skin. Not that it makes any difference knowing or not knowing, but I'd like to know. I am very, very pale, have auburn hair, freckles, burn very easily, virtually never tan, so I have always thought that I have pinky toned cool skin. However, yesterday I went to buy a new airbrush concealer thing from Clinique and the sales assistant insisted that I should buy the Neutral Fair (yellow/peachy toned) rather than the Fair (pinky toned) that I have always bought previously. I've tried it today, and it does blend with my skin much better, so... does this mean I have warm toned skin?

No neutral is between warm and cool. You can be warm neutral or cool.
You probably are cool with your colouring but their cool may be too pinky for you so a neutral is better. It could also be more flattering if you are very pinky.

I'm neutral. It confuses a lot of make-up sales assistants.

I reckon I'm perhaps neutral as well. I can't wear red or pink, but can more orangey colours (coral etc), so I suspect I'm maybe neutral but on the warm side. I've always assumed I'm cool because I'm so pale, but I'm beginning to understand pale doesn't automatically = cool.

Thanks, guys. Smile
