Boden dress lengths?

I'm pretty new to Boden and quite like the look of a few things in their spring preview (yes I know those prints will drive me insane eventually).
I just wondered how their dresses fit on the length if I'm 5ft 5?
The website says 'above knee' but surely this depends on how tall you are!
I don't want to have to order regular and long in every style so can somebody help me out pls? Thanks!

I'm 5'4 with relatively long legs. I buy the shorter Boden length & it is fine on me.

I once bought a Boden maxi dress in jersey fabric which was long but fine with my highest high heels. When I washed it I hung it in the airing cupboard to dry & it grew by nearly a foot in length & was completely unwearable! Fortunately on rewashing & drying flat on a shelf like the label suggested it shrank back & was fine Grin

They usually give their sizes on the website for the actual garment. However, i do think that the previews often omit these. The only thing i can suggest is to look on their current website and look at dresses that are similar to the description of the dress you like.

I'm 5 7" and I find the regular can sometimes be just a touch too short. I do tend to order both lengths and send one back, providing it is free delivery and returns of course!!

Great, thanks. Really useful info

Same height as you OP and always buy regular length in skirts and dresses. They tend to fall to the knee unless they are called a mini, then a couple in of inches above. Nothing bum grazing.

msfreud · 16/10/2014 10:59

Their size charts have this info:
"As a guide the hem length descriptions of our skirts and dresses are based on where we expect the Regular hem to fall on someone who is 5'5"/165cm, Long length on someone 5'8"/178cm tall, and Petite on someone 5'2"/157cm. The length you choose will depend on your height and whether you want to wear flats or heels."

That said, I'm 5ft3 and sometimes get their long length in skirts because I prefer hemlines to hit my knee. I think their skirts are getting shorter and shorter every year. Or maybe my legs are getting chubbier.

Thanks everyone. I like skirts to hit my knee too so will try regular length as a first off

Hi 5ft 5in regular Boden user here. I'm afraid to say I have a complete mix of regular & long length. It is a complete pain particularly in the sale never really knowing which one you need. I have more long to sit on or just cover my knees but sometimes they come up long and look really frumpy.

I hope that helps a bit.

Oly4 · 17/10/2014 16:19

Thanks whitewine, how annoying! Seems I'll have to order both.

Can I do a quick hijack to ask about sizing? I've also seen some dresses I like (Zoe dress - does anyone have it??) but am not sure what size to go for. I would say I'm a 10 but sometimes need 8 in places like M&S, Next, etc.
Thanks!
