Wavy hair

Ok my hair is poker straight about on a level with my armpit.

I would love wavy but gentle waves. Am going to get it cut to shoulder level.

What do I use to create waves? Tongs a curly thing or what?

My hair doesn't seem to stay in all that well so I guess I need product recommendations too please.

If your hair is poker straight and doesn't hold the style for long then it could be difficult. Someone might know of some products/tools that could do the job, but if not I'd hesitate over whether it is worth heat damaging your hair for a look that might drop out after an hour or two. If it is going to drop out either way, you could look into ways to braid/twist etc overnight that will make it look wavy next morning - there are various different methods using socks also Confused on youtube and elsewhere if you search 'heat free waves' and 'sock curls'.

Curlformers might work, my hair is curly/wavy but fine so refuses to hold a style other than natural or straightened but curlformers work for me as they 'set' all night from damp hair... you can get cheaper ones from china via ebay - search magic leverage!

Keep your hair a bit longer as wave will ahorten it anyway.

Salt spray is good, use that to give texture whine drying and just use your fingers. I dry my hair upside done for a root blast then flip it up an use my fingers to twist sections. I then leave it to dry naturally.

Beach undone waves everytime but my hair has a kink to it anyway.

My DD uses one of THESE It's the fist Curling thing ever to be really good and hold the curl even while she sleeps.
It's taken her while to realise this but she uses it all the time now.
Looks lovely and really does hold well.
Definitely better with longer hair though!

Thanks. I've tried twisting it once before then putting it on the top of my head like a sumo wrestler but in the morning. Woah!! I had curls but tight ones.

Have got salt spray so will have another go.
