Loafers

I want some comfy, sturdy loafers which come halfway up the top of my foot IYSWIM. Not full coverage like brogues, and not toe coverage like ballet flats, but in between.

I'd like them in black or tan.

They must be leather and have a decent thickish sole. I need a size 8.

Has anyone seen any?

I've got some Hush Puppy ones. Really nice and very comfy.

Ooh, thanks- they're great, just the right foot coverage. Although I should've said, I would like some with tassels.

I have the Clarks patent ones, and some Tods oxblood ones from NAP, both have tassels. In the past I've had Russell and Bromley. Would recommend them all, and are classic, so worth the splurge if you can.

I've got Brewster ones from R&B (so a snaffle rather than tassles - their tassled ones are called Chester). They're so comfortable, really supportive on my instep. Mine were in the sale and I got a black ponyskin finish, but they have loads of variations.

Russell and Bromley do do shop mail order I think, their website is rubbish (who on earth wants to filter by all those specific heel heights?? sorry off topic rant!) so if they do go OOS online it might be worth calling a few shops. That loafer is one of their classics they do every year, so I'm sure all the shops stock it, my local one certainly does.
