Hi! I am in a bit of a rut, I feel like nothing suits me at all and I hate hate hate getting dressed. I feel sad because I used to love it! I have put on a bit of weight and am carrying it mainly around my face, stomach and thighs. I feel gross! I also can't bear my face, just feel ugly all the time.
So my bottom half appears to be around a 12-14 at the moment and my top half 10-12. I'm 5 ft 8 (I think), have a short graduated Bob and Olive-y skin tone.
So my question- what do you reckon would suit my figure? At the moment I'm just wearing jeans and converse or leggings and long tops. Just ergh!
Help me please!
Thank you lovely MNetters

What did you used to wear when you loved getting dressed? Maybe you can adapt or revisit some of the rings you loved then?

Would you ever consider going for a 'personal shopper' experience at a Dept store? Debenhams/JL/TopShop etc do them. I did one to find a dress for an occasion and was truly surprised & flattered by the selection of about 20 outfits no less! It's very private and you have a chat with the personal shopper beforehand about what you might like, whether it be to refresh your wardrobe or get inspiration. Best of all... no pressure to buy!

I don't even remember what I used to wear, but I have a feeling that I wohldnt be confident enough to wear them now anyway. I would definitely consider a personal shopping experience that sounds cool, thank you

I am same size as you - I wear lots of dresses with boots as I think these balance out the pear shape - also just bought some flared skirts to wear with fitted shirts and short jackets as they show off smallest part.. I wear a lot of quite fitted clothes with focus on jackets bags and shoes as these make me feel good whatever the state of my thighs..

I did a shopper at John lewis - pretty good to get looking at stuff you would not normally consider.

Thank you, I don't know if I'm brave enough for skirts! Sorry I am not trying to be difficult

seriously -skirts and dresses with boots are fab if you dont like your legs - I find them far more flattering and they disguise the thigh girth when trousers just kindly wrap it up and show it exactly..

I now only one own pair of trousers - to show the difference let me tell you this recent story - I went to see someone to sort out my weight problem, first time I went wearing a dress and he told me I did not need any help, I looked fine - the next time I went I wore the trousers and all he could say was "Sit down, I see exactly what you mean" .. Never worn the trousers since!!

Just get your self a cheap pair of boots and get to the shops and try on some skirts and dresses - honestly you will be amazed..
