I have a mullet :( Regrowing hair after pixie cut.

Apologies to the lovers of the classic mullet, but I am despairing over it.

I had beautiful long, long hair which I cut off in a moment of madness after seeing the gorgeous, slim, radiant Jennifer Lawrence do the same to hers. Only after did I realise I myself am NOT gorgeous, slim and radiant and the look did not have the same affect on me.

So now I'm trying to grow it but the back is longer than the sides. I'm considering having the back trimmed to even it up but its the only place with any real length so I'd just be back to where I started really.

Has anyone survived this mullet phase? Any tips?

I survived it. I had the Pink / Miley Cyrus shaved back and sides and mohawk / pompadour on top. It was lush, i loved it. Anyway, i just braved it. I looked terrible for a while. Once it got long enough i had it trimmed to a very short flapper style bob, which looked much better. Maybe you could try wide fabric headbands to cover the front, so it looks less mullety?

I am growing my hair out a bit at the moment too so sympathise. I have trimmed the back of mine so it is less mullet like until the sides grow more. So more of a mushroom than a mullet Hmm Grin

'More mushroom than mullet'

I'm not exactly sold on either choice here Grin

I'm in the same position hairwise. I'm just thinking that it's winter coming up, I can wear hats.

I have grown mine out this year too. I kept the back short in the nape of my neck, and grew out any layers there first. For the sides, I kept it styled as a pixie for as long as I could, before moving it to a bob parting. By that, I mean I kept my parting very much to one side, with the smaller side behind my ear, and the longer bit blow dried over. Like this

You could try extensions?

Nice BreakOut - that's what I'm heading for beyond the mushroom! Grin

Just get the back cut in, i'm growing my hair from a v.v short style accident which happened at Easter when the hairdresser just wouldn't stop cutting. I've just had it cut yesterday and even though it's still short at the back it's now getting into a nice inverted bob shape. Unless you take your hair up shorter at the back and have the sides longer it wont look like any sort of style.

Get the back trimmed. According to my hairdresser it grows quicker anyway.
