Winter footwear

I have knee high boots for leggings and some skirts. But I don't like wearing them under jeans. I don't know what to get, ankle boots or shoes. I'm not a big fashionista and don't have a huge budget.!

What are people wearing?

I'll be wearing ankle boots under jeans and knee highs with leggings/tights and skirts

Got a pair of burgundy wedge heel ankle boots earlier this year, ready for winter, with a fine furry type lining throughout to keep feet warm. They're rather lovely but I should never have worn them on a long walk to 'try them out' in the summer
