Trench coats

Are these the done thing at the moment?
Or a bit 'flasher'?
And if they are 'in' then which length - knee, calf or full length?
I don't have a clue about style so am musing.

I love my trench coats ( have stone, bright red, and navy). I wouldn't go below knee length unless you are a tall willowy individual though. Banana republic and gap do v good value for money versions.

Is below the knee a bad look? I really like the look of trench coats but never seem to get the memo that goes round (the one that stylish people get!) so I am always unsure.
I like the idea of a navy one.

I need a new trench, any recommendations from the stylish out there?
Budget versions preferably please

I second Banana Republic. Tried one on in there last week. It fitted beautifully, finishing on the top of my knee.
