Autumn/Winter Fashions

I always seem to be behind the times when it comes to fashion. For instance I've just bought myself some black leggings though I know they have been around for forever. So can anyone tell me what clothes are in fashion now? I've seen alot of ponchos in the shops so I'm guessing that's one trend but I'd love to know of anymore & be fashionable for once!

I would guess at winter florals and ankle boots over skinny jeans.

Ooh ankle boots & skinny jeans- like the sound of that. A few years ago I would say I was fashionable but I stopped buying so many clothes to save some money, then got pregnant and had dd & now I'm completely out of touch!

There are quite a lot of contrasting textures around at the moment e.g. faux leather leggings with faux fur coats, fluffy jumpers, leather skirts etc.. I've seen lots of burgundy and lots of olive/dark green. Plaid shirts. Tartan scarves. Oversized boyfriend coats. Midi skirts. The poncho thing seems to be Aztec print capes/shawls worn with a belt...not my thing at all. I'll leave it to panpipe players! To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much about what's in fashion. It's better to define your style and build up a wardrobe of staple items to which you can add one or two fashion pieces. For example, there are lots of lovely fluffy/fake fur/boucle coats around at the moment that could be worn over simple skinny jeans and ankle boots.

Big square, grid like checks. A scarf would be an easy way to wear it.

Leather or pleather leggings and skirts. Skirts are midi length so just below knee length, a-line or pencil style. Wear with ankle boots, brogues or loafers. Jeans still skinny with ankle boots but getting wider, so anything goes really. Trousers getting wider, e.g. really wide leg with white Stan smiths and a fitted crew neck sweater. Google or Pinterest Phoebe Philo for that look. Faux fur jackets and coats. Pale blue (pale pink SO last year). Tartan. Thin crew neck merino or cashmere sweaters, on own or with a collared shirt underneath. Sweatshirts, plain or logo'do. Biker boots

But don't go near anything that doesn't fit your lifestyle and body shape. If budget was a consideration and you actually want clothes to last beyond the trends, I'd get the crew neck sweaters (uniqlo, men's or women's are a favourite and reasonably priced), a pair of skinny and a pair of straight leg or boyfriend jeans one in a mid blue denim, one in black, a pair of wide leg black trousers (can see these lasting till next summer worn with Birkenstock style sandals), a grey marl sweatshirt, not too baggy, some brogues or loafers, biker boots, trainers (stans or something from Nike). I'd skip the skirts unless you're already a skirt person. Then get something really on-trend but uber cheap like a faux fur or tartan scarf. The high street will be awash anytime soon, they're the ultimate Xmas present.

Have fun!
