Can anyone recommend any? I'm on a mission to wear dresses/skirts this winter but am failing when I get to tights.

Depends what style and what denier you want Stuffragette. For opaque i find Wolford satin opaque 50 or velvet deluxe really comfy and stylish. For a slightly more sheer and shiny look i like neon 40. I personally think these are the nicest tights i have ever worn. They are so versatile and give a lovely look on the leg. I have a lot of blemishes and scars on my legs and these tights not only hide the blemishes and scars but also make your legs look very nice. Wolford are not cheap but are excellent quality. For a cheaper option i like M&S Autograph

If you want really comfy cosy tights then Asda do fleece lined ones now.
They are very warm and comfy.

StartinOverTheRainbow · 10/10/2014 17:19

Second the fleece lined ones. I wore them the other day and they felt warmer than a pair of jeans!

Stuffragette · 10/10/2014 17:59

I also love wolford, but my day job is pretty scruffy so will save wolford for best. But the fleece ones sound toasty warm. I just googled warm tights and someone recommended Pretty Polly thermal ones. Anyone tried them?

primark fleece lined tights are my winter saviour. Cheap so can be replaced as often as they get scruffy looking but super warm and cosy

The pp thermal are good, the primark version are just as good actually. For thick woollen tights Falke Softmerino are very thick and warm, last for years. The synthetic tights a la pp etc. don't last as long.

The m and s best of British tights IMO are cosy. They are the cable knit appearance ones

Pipbin · 10/10/2014 19:10

Oh, can I jump on your thread? I'm after big thick knitted tights in light colours, not black or dark brown.

ChrissieLatham · 10/10/2014 20:02

Primark super cosy are amazing, I live in them all winter and still have some from 2 years ago still going strong!

Stuffragette · 10/10/2014 20:22

Looks I'm heading to primark and m&s. Grin I love that we are all tights obsessed. I feel like it's my holy grail. To find the perfect tights.

So I've splurged on a pair of Falke merino tights, and a pair of John Lewis wool ones. Primark's queue was so long I couldn't face it but I'm going to go next week to get some. Now all I need is cold weather.

I love Primark for tights - they have them in all weights and colours and they're cheap as chips. I have several pairs of their fleece-lined leggings and tights and I practically live in them in the winter.
