Interview outfit

I've got an interview next week and I have no idea what to wear? I've worn a uniform to work for the last 14 years so am not up to date with office wear....it's a job that involves meeting the public and dealing with colleagues.

I think a suit or jacket would be a default for an interview unless the job is maybe caring profession or very creative. Offices are a bit less formal than they used to be, you might go for a silk blouse or jersey top or a jacket and dress or trousers rather than the traditional matching skirt, shirt, blazer and court shoes look. You need to feel comfortable yourself but most people would smarten up a bit for an interview relative to a normal day in the office.
