Could this be a real Louis Vuitton?

I bought this from a charity shop today. £3.50. Am presuming fake, but thought I'd look it up just in case, and I am baffled by the world of designer items! How on earth do I tell if it's real?!

It looks well made - even stitching, etc. It has a code number printed inside: M61794.

Just wondered if there were any LV fans that could help me out :) it would be much appreciated!

If not, I'm not too worried ... my old purse just fell apart, so I need a new one anyway.

Could this be a real Louis Vuitton?

It's kind of amusing that the website Middleaged linked to says: "seller = nobhead".

Tee hee hee.

worldgonecrazy · 08/10/2014 13:22

I can't recall Louis Vuitton making that shape purse and the pattern doesn't look right.

I'm not an expert - the best thing to do is take it to a Louis Vuitton shop and ask whether LV ever made that style in that pattern. (Cherry monogram in a French Purse design)

The shop won't tell you if it's fake or real but they should be able to tell you that much information.

whispertoroar · 08/10/2014 13:23

Lol, no Middleaged, that's not me ;) Did make me laugh when I saw the seller name though. How can they know its 100% genuine?!

It must be fake. It is destined for a life of being bashed around in my changing back next to nappies and old bits of rice cake.

Thank you Worldgonecrazy. I might see if there's any Louis Vuitton shops nearby. I thought for a second I might be one of those annoying lucky people to find something amazing in a charity shop :( oh well!

Pretty though… worth £3.50 to sit next to nappies and rice cakes

Changing bag, I meant. Not changing back. weird image in my head

I'm quite certain it's fake - the serial number doesn't seem right and the cerises print doesn't look right either. I can't seem to find that style purse with the cerises print.
But more and better pictures would help a lot.

There are forums like the purseforum where they offer authentication services, but I'm not sure they'll authenticate already purchased items - they usually only authenticate live auctions as far as I'm aware.

RonaldMcDonald · 08/10/2014 14:27

nope

divingoffthebalcony · 08/10/2014 14:32

Try The Purse Forum. I'm sure they would be able to tell you just by looking at the photo.

LemonDrizzleTwunt · 08/10/2014 14:38

Can you take a closer photo? You're looking for a two-tone stripe pattern on the LV logo, and seeeerrriously even, perfect stitching. All metalwork should be solid brass, too, so won't flake, peel or scratch to show alloy underneath.

the serial number doesn't seem right at all, but they could recently have changed the system...I'm a bit out of touch now.

Hope this helps.

LemonDrizzleTwunt · 08/10/2014 14:42

Ok, definitely fake, or seconds. I've looked at the other cherry items available online, and you'll see that the red of the cherry never covers the LV logo.

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 08/10/2014 14:49

It is definitely a fake.

worldgonecrazy · 08/10/2014 14:56

Louis Vuitton don't do seconds or sales, so anyone selling "seconds" or "sale" items is selling fakes.

I've had a google and it looks like the cherry monogram print had the cherries between the monograms, not covering them. I can't find any current LV items to compare it to though, and probably most of the ones showing up in google are fakes anyway.

InfinitySeven · 08/10/2014 15:41

WorldGoneCrazy has a point - I've never seen an authentic LV bag where they have obscured their logo.

beeny · 08/10/2014 15:43

I have a genuine cherry bag am afraid that looks fake.

JadeJ123 · 08/10/2014 15:45

Fake, none of the ones I've got/seem look like that and none of my serial numbers look like that either. Probably a replica
