What is a flood trouser?

I just bought these from Wallis:

Why are they called flood trousers? Are they going to be really short so I can wade through floods in them?

Yes, exactly that.

Oh, high water trousers! Grin so named as the bottoms don't get wet in a flood.

desperatehousewife21 · 07/10/2014 21:45

lol I have literally never heard of these before!

I have loads of trousers that look like that but not called flood trousers.

That is the most unattractive name for trousers I've seen, although fair play for tapping into the flood clothing ranges

ShatnersBassoon · 07/10/2014 22:54

I'd have guessed it was one leg of a pair of waders.
