Hair dilemma

My hair is roughly collarbone length and wavy/curly. I have been doing the curly girl method for about 5 months and things are going well. Last year I decided to stop dying my hair and so I have roughly 6/7" long roots. The dyed ends are in much worse condition than the roots, obviously, but it's starting to look odd now my roots are getting longer. The dyed bits aren't curling as well and so kind of stick out looking horribly straw like.

My long term plan (I think) is to grow my hair long, but I am seriously considering having a choppy bob or something to get rid of the dyed hair. Prior to starting to grow my hair I had a bob for over a decade, and I'm only really growing it for a change tbh (plus, I want to know what my hair is like long, undyed and properly cared for).

So, my questions are: can you still do the curly girl method with shorter hair? How does the plopping work? Hairdressers - there are none who do the CG method and so would having my hair washed once with non CG shampoo etc undo all the work I've done so far? Finally, is it better to get rid of the dried, unhealthy hair and then grow it, or persevere to get the length before the condition?

Sorry, this has turned into rather an essay. TIA. Smile

I would have it chopped, take your own stuff to the hairdressers to use, enjoy your new look and grow it from fab and healthy to the length you want.

Thanks so much, Step. Sorry for not replying sooner - our internet has been on the blink.

In a fit of madness at the weekend, I chopped all the dyed ends off myself! BUT, I love it! I am sure that if a hairdresser looked at it they'd be able to tell I'd hacked at it myself, but because it's curly it's not immediately obvious, and to be quite honest I'm too pleased with it to care!
