Why does my mascara run?

Now I'm not sure if it's my mascara or eyeliner, but within an hour of applying makeup, I get horrific black rings under my eyes that need wiping. It looks as though I have been crying!

I've tried all the different makeup products, expensive or cheap, they all run.

I'm starting to think its not the makeup, but my skin. Could I have oily eyes?(sounds stupid I know).

I've stopped using mascara and eyeliner, which is a shame.

Any ideas?

I have found a non smudging mascara. And it's cheap as can be. Boots Natural Collection waterproof. The only mascara I have ever tried that doesn't give me smudgy under eyes.

Same here. Seriously good stuff. Its £1.99 or 3 for a fiver and is the only one I can wear that doesnt flake or bleed.

My second cheapo recommendation is Superdrug's B.Longer, in a swish grey tube. I like the fatter brush but they don't do brown/black which I prefer for daytime use.

I've very watery teary eyes, a legacy from the chemo I had and had truly despaired that I'd ever be able to wear mascara again coz of the Panda effect.

Clinique has had really good reviews here and I intend to pick up a tube when I'm in the US at Christmas.

You can't have too much of a good thing :)

Lash power is amazing, wouldn't use anything else now, wish I had discovered it earlier.

Normal and waterproof mascaras run on me. I only use tubing mascaras now and they really last well on me - no smudging, flaking or running.
It comes off with warm water.

The L'Oreal beauty tubes one is good (although the primer bit is completely pointless), Estee Lauder Double Wear with the gold lid is good too - but expensive.
There are loads of other tubing mascaras on the market - the Clinique Lash Power mascara is also one.

I used Clinique Lash Power too Grin.

I work in a hospital, and the heat was making me sweat, and I assume the mascara was just melting off me Hmm as I looked like a panda within 20 minutes of arriving at work - or anywhere warm. Grrrr.

The lash power DOES NOT BUDGE! Not even a drop.

My only negatives are a) it is expensive (£18) and lasts just 4 weeks (I wear 6 days a week) and b) it isn't particularly thickening.

So if you want non smudge, go for this. But just be aware of the above :)

Right, so an update. Went to boots and bought: Rimmel Exaggerate undercover shadow primer.

And Boots Natural Collection Waterguard mascara.

Both were cheap!

I applied the primer on my eyelid and even underneath the eye. I then applied mascara. I did so at 1:00 pm and now (almost 8 p.m) it has not smudged AT ALL. This is a first for me. Ever!

I have no other makeup on however, so don't know if my foundation could have been affecting things. Will experiment again and see!

Was so nice to wear mascara.

I keep wiping under my eye with a tissue to see if there's any black, but there's not!

Yay! I didn't know Rimmel did a primer, that's good to know.

So I had my first day of waterproof Lancôme Hypnose today. After I'd put on moisturiser and primer & before I applied the mascara, I dried my eye area (someone had suggested on another thread these might be an issue)... and no runs. Hurray!
