Went to local dept store and had it applied...looked ok in artificial light but having applied at home feel its slightly orangey.
Its shade 020..I normally wear a Bobbi Brown warm ivory.
I should be able to return ????

Why would you be able to take it back?

meditrina · 04/10/2014 12:43

I doubt you can return something solely because you have changed your mind about the shade.

impatienceisavirtue · 04/10/2014 12:44

I picked up the wrong shade of foundation once. Chanced my arm and they swapped it for me.

impatienceisavirtue · 04/10/2014 12:45

Oh nvm just realised you've used some - I hadn't. No they won't return it. Buy a lighter shade and mix the two?

Fubsy · 04/10/2014 12:51

I would try taking it back, as its not like you've grabbed any old bottle off the shelf and refused advice. They've sold it to you as the right shade and it isn't. Really if they want customer satisfaction they should tell you to go outside and look at it at least, if not give you a sample to try in different lights.

MrsDavidBowie · 04/10/2014 12:53

They applied it...used their Dior foundation scanner. The first one she put on was too dark...this was the second one.
In the store it looked totally different to what it does in natural light.
At £32 I will return and ask.

Definitely try and return it, I bought a dior bronzer in an airport and wanted a matte one. Once I was home I realised it was shimmery and when I mentioned it a few months later at my local dept store the lady said I would have been able to return it earlier.

On another note, what's the foundation like? I usually use dior nude but was thinking of trying this one.

meltedmonterayjack · 04/10/2014 13:03

If the Dior person matched it to your skin and it's not a good match then I think they should change it. If you'd chosen the shade yourself that would be a bit different but they did it.

I'm so fed up of getting the wrong shade that even if they do match it in the store I ask for a little sample to try at home first. It's so expensive if it's wrong.

TheHobbit · 04/10/2014 13:04

I've taken foundation back lots of times and it's always been exchanged.

MrsDavidBowie · 04/10/2014 13:06

I love the look of it...bought it after recommendations on here. Had a sample of Lancome Air but it was too matte for me. Didn't like feel of it.

Beauty counters will always exchange make up,I don't know where the myth that they don't came from. You just say you got it home and it's the wrong colour. I've even emailed clinique as I couldn't get back to the shops to return a powder and they just sent me some new products, they didn't even want the powder back so I gave it to a friend.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/10/2014 14:02

Even Boots will exchange stuff.

Kittykat7 · 04/10/2014 14:06

I'd take it back. If you have the original receipt & say they matched you then they should exchange it to the correct shade.
You could always email the customer services to ask. If they state in an email reply that it can be exchanged then print out the email & take it with you.

Twinklestein · 04/10/2014 14:08

If return fails you can sell it on ebay, you should get a decent amount for it.

lovingmatleave · 04/10/2014 14:26

I would take it back too. i got matched to a way too dark shade of Clinique foundation in a boots store. looked ok in bright shop lights but way too orange outside. They exchanged it fine in a different branch. The assistant couldn't believe I had been matched to that shade.

Fcukfifa · 04/10/2014 14:36

I always seen to get matched too light, I try telling the ladies I prefer the foundation to match my general body colour as my skin on my face is alway a lot paler than the rest of me.
They hate doing it, even though most of theirs is usually about 5 shades darker than their own colour Hmm

MrsDavidBowie · 04/10/2014 14:37

Only bought it Thursday and have receipt and box. I may go to Dior counter in J L first and just see what they match me as.

Fcukfifa · 04/10/2014 14:38

They might chuck you in a couple of samples for the inconvenience Wink
