It's a huge pore that is so big you could hide small children it. I look like I've had a facial piercing. It won't go away.
Any ideas?

It looks like a Pilar Sheath Acanthoma. Usually found on the top of the lip. Google it and see your GP

Kundry · 04/10/2014 08:45

Paula's Choice is brilliant.

To get any further you prob need to see a cosmetic dermatologist and have either dermaroller, laser or prescription strength Retin-A (or a combination of the 3). Or if it isn't a pore, have it removed.

HowsTheSerenity · 04/10/2014 09:31

September, this is it. Are you a dermatologist?
I have one on my forehead but not as bad.
I guess I can leave it as it is or have a small scar from surgery. Hmmm

No Im a nurse. Have seen a few but they are quite rare. It could be quite deep. Can you feel it from inside your upper lip. If you think it looks unsightly or if you find it becomes infected then you should get it removed. Don't be surprised if your GP is not that familiar with them. I thought it looked a bit sore in your picture as there is some redness around the area. The scar will be minimal but possibly bigger than you think as it could be quite deep. Hope that helps.

Forgot to say your skin really does look amazing. Im off to google Paulas Choice.

HowsTheSerenity · 04/10/2014 12:16

And here I am thinking I have unsightly skin.
To be honest I've been lucky. No acne, minimal blemishes (except when on clomid and ivf drugs) and only the start of wrinkles. Being fat helps Grin
But I do love the paulas choice. I have red skin that goes redder with even mild irritation. I use their 2% bha cream, a retinol serum, moisturiser and a random supermarket sunscreen. I use Nivea in winter too.

I have a dermaroller but never had the guts to use it!

HowsTheSerenity · 04/10/2014 12:25

I just bought one off eBay. I want to see what happens. Probably going to look like someone she to over my face with a lawnmower.

I don't think filler or derma roller would do much to be honest. I think a plastic surgeon would be your best bet. The base of the 'hole' will be tethered so to speak and so will need releasing from the tissue beneath. Filler wouldn't fill and maybe make it look worse. As someone said before it should be treated as an ice pick acne scar.

HowsTheSerenity · 04/10/2014 21:28

From reading about September said you are right. I just want to use one out of curiosity Grin

I have one too on my forehead. My toddler is fascinated with it Hmm

TweedAddict · 06/10/2014 15:57

My nan has a huge one its grown to about 4mm wide and is very deep, she gets some yucky black pus out of hers every week. My mum had a smaller one on the cheek she wanted it sorted asap so not too go the way my nans has, she had her operated on and you would never know. They did under a local and I cost a few hundred quid. She's glad she had it done as it was very deep, which in time would of widened like my nans

ruby2019missyou · 01/03/2020 10:17

Hi, just wondering what, if anything, you did Serenity. I was doing a search of MN because guess what - same problem!

ThePawtriarchy · 01/03/2020 17:21

@HowsTheSerenity

ruby2019missyou · 01/03/2020 18:08

we all have weird things. You have very clear skin so any anomaly will show up. You have a gorgeous mouth. Just get over it. I mean that in the best way - just literally stop focusing on it.

IvyFluids · 02/03/2020 00:02

Hi!
Well that’s a blast from the past.
I found out it’s a pilar sheath acanthoma.
I still haven’t done anything yet. You can have them removed and I probably will. I’d prefer a weeny scar that will fade then a hole in my lip.

ruby2019missyou · 02/03/2020 17:04

@damnthatanxiety Wtf are you on about? Read the thread before posting next time.

ruby2019missyou · 02/03/2020 17:07

@ivyfluids Thanks for your quick response. I don’t think I have the same thing as you as it’s not on my lip. I’ll see the dr to see what he can suggest.

IvyFluids · 02/03/2020 22:15

You can get them on your forehead too.
I have one there also.
Hopefully you figure out what your holes are Grin

IvyFluids · 02/03/2020 22:18

@cringyminge I use a combo of products but don’t forget they photo was taken about six years ago.
I’ve now hit 40.
I do use Retin-a, vitamin c, niacinamide and sunscreen.
All the sunscreen!
This is me having just woken up.

I have a hole in my face
