Chanel Coco Noir

I love 'noir' perfumes and as it's chanel thought I can't go wrong and bought a bottle of EDP without smelling it first.

The smell is nice but it fades SO quickly - like Jo Malone perfumes.

Has anybody else found this or do I just have a dud bottle? Bought it from Debenhams so would be surprise if it was a fake

I have a bottle and it's not a patch on the original Coco (which I also have). I call it 'Coco Lite' - just a generic tame version that fades too quickly.
I'll use it up but won't re-purchase.

I tried the new Opium the other day too and hated that also!

I'm hoping the husband will buy me Chanel Coromandel (one of the Exclusif range) for Xmas Grin

Moomin - have you smelled Coromandel? What is it like?

Yes, I ordered samples from that 'surrender to chance' website (they sell decanted samples of loads of brands)

Coromandel is a beautiful lingering oriental (smells like Indian incense to me). It's over £100 a bottle so wanted to make sure I love it! The original Prada (Amber?) is lovely and long lasting too.

ooh - just going to look at that website. Thank you

I hate Chanel Coco anything.... too heavy for me.
But I love Chanel Jersey another Exclusif.
Like Chanel No. 5 mixed with lavender.
I like to wear a perfume that isn't mainstream Smile.
It doesn't have to be expensive though. I love Wild Musk- cheap as chips.

Surrender to Chance is a great way to find out if you like a scent.

I love the original Coco, and really swithered on whether to buy another bottle of the original, or the new Noir, which is lovely too. However, after spraying it on in boots, it was practically gone by the time I had finished my shopping. Also, unlike the original, I found it was not as interesting...by that I mean with the original Coco the scent changes throughout the day and lasts all day. The noir just dies away to nothing.

Shame, I really wanted to love it too.

Have you tried Serge Noir by Serge Lutens? That's lovely & settles into a warm, spicy oriental scent.

Greengardenpixie · 03/10/2014 20:43

I have an old bottle of coco..bought in the early nineties. I wore it the other day but i have to say its a really heavy perfume. I didnt really like it when it settled. On the other hand, chanel no 5 is lovely when it settled. Not sure how it smells now.

dalek · 03/10/2014 21:04

Mrs Asprey - have just ordered a sample of Serge Noir. I love Chanel no5, Black Cafe and Vetyver by Jo Malone (now discontinued) and L'Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figeur Extreme. Hope I like this.

If anybody has any ideas of any others i would like all suggestions gratefully received.
