Bra Intervention Australia??

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2014 08:42

Hello lovely S&Bers. Thanks to the marvellous bra intervention threads on here I got myself to a bravissimo and am now rocking a 30G instead of a 36C!

I want to tell my sister to get a proper fitting as she has the roughly the same size boobs and wears a 34c or something (she's a size 8). But she lives in Sydney so no Bravissimo over there.

Any knowledgeable or Aussie MNers that have any suggestions for a proper bra fitting experience down under?

(Thread title sounds like a TV show Grin)

I just measured myself using the method I found on an intervention thread and translated it to Aussie sizes (ie an 8 would be a 26). I'm now wearing a 10D (28d) rather than a 12C (30c). The fit is so much better.

Okay maybe I will just get her to self measure. I just tried that and then got frustrated when I couldn't get the right fit. Found the woman in Bravissimo very helpful.

I think an Aussie 8 is a 30", 10 is a 32" etc. Tell her to read the bra measuring guides on MN and then check Zodee website for a wide range of brands/sizes in Oz.

coffeenut, a 28D would be a 6D in Australia, which doesn't exist, and you would struggle to find an 8D outside of an independent bra store. Australian sizing starts at 10 which translates to a 32 back, 34 = 12, 36 = 14 etc.

I would suggest she goes to an independent bra shop in her city. They will mostly stock English brands in any event as my big-bosomed friends at home all wear Freya and Panache predominantly, but she will struggle to find small back sizes. Medium sized boobs on small frames (30D or so) is very very badly catered for in Australia as most women will wear 10/12 B/C (32/34 B/C) instead.

Ruby where did you get that a 28 is a Au size 6?

Okay let me put it this way then ...

My ribcage is 28 inches. Using the bra intervention method, I should be in a DD/E cup. The size 10DD fits me perfectly.

Medium sized boobs on size 10 frames seem to be quite well catered for in my opinion ...

I find that the really old bra fitter ladies in DJ's are good. Only the ones that are about 80 years old. Anyone younger is not good enough Grin

I'm going to try the bra intervention method once I find a tape measure.

Bravissimo deliver to Australia if she can work out her size.

You can get measured in Myer but I have found their bigger boob styles are very frumpy.

For larger sizes try Big Girls Don't Cry or Isabella's Passion. They sell larger sizes such as panache and Freya.
