Gunky lips with matt lipstick

How do you stop your lipstick from going gunky? I've got a beautiful matt pink lippy from Mac but feel so paranoid with it on cos it always cracks and goes gunky. I drink loads of water. I tried lip balm but that makes it loose the matt effect.

Exfoliate your lips gently with a damp, soft toothbrush

Try nuxe lip balm. It's matte. A must have for me before Mac matte lipsticks.

Put on some lip balm or Vaseline and buff it off with a soft, dry towel or face cloth. You may need to apply a tiny bit more balm but should be soft and flake free enough for matt lipstick.

I hate this too OP. Exfoliate lips before putting on lippy - I use Vaseline and buff off with a damp flannel. Then another layer of Vaseline, let it soak for a min, then add lippy. I do have to reapply the Vaseline/lip balm a couple of times during the the day too though

The Nuxe lip balm sounds good, must try that
