Dear S&B ladies I need your help to style this skirt please as i haven't the foggiest what to wear on top. Things you need to know - i will not bare my arms (not even cap sleeves) but happy with short or 3/4 length, i am a size 14 apple shape with 34ff boobs so nothing too revealing in the neckline but equally nothing too high up either.

I would happily wear a sort of cami thing with a cardi but worry that it just adds bulk to an already bigger upper body, and i have no clue re: colours. My thinking is as its black with sequins that i should stick with black on top too sigh i really am clueless

ANY help gratefully received Grin

No idea. Following with interest for suggestions - I have a dark grey skirt identical in shape, haven't worn it yet cos have no clue what to put with it!?

I thought id wear a ruffle front blouse with mine, but it looked a bit wrong on me, cos like you i have a bigger top half Confused tight fitted top looked even worse, as it was too clingy all over, aaargh! Grin

does it have a zip? if so I would wear a slim fit blouse.

coffeenut · 01/10/2014 10:19

maybe this?

cathyandclaire · 01/10/2014 10:25

Oooh, I have a skirt exactly like that!
I tend to dress it down (a little) with a black slouchy-ish jumper ( mine is a cashmere one from Uniqlo) and high black ankle boots. I always feel good in it.

cathyandclaire · 01/10/2014 10:37

OK

This is mine, it's not exactly an exciting or groundbreaking look but it is easy and means you can wear the skirt on lots of occasions and not to have to breathe in all the time

yes it has a zip at the back coffee but not sure i have enough waist as an apple to pull that look off.
I like the top you linked to though, thanks

daryl that is exactly my problem too, if its too tight and clingy it shows all my lumps and bumps, too loose and i'll just look like a sack of spuds (as my mum used to say) I love my bottom half, its just from the non-existent waist up that i struggle Sad

Forgot to say it is for a 50th party but a young 50th party crowd Grin

cathy that looks lovely on you... not sure i'd get away with it though as you look like a good few sizes smaller than me! love the boots with it though

doi, I have a friend who is a size 14-16 apple and she looks fab in pencil skirts with tucked in sleeveless blouses (she wears them to work all the time). I think it actually creates a waist.

i really really like the look that cathy&claire has gone for though. love the slouchy jumper.

now i want a sequin skirt. sigh.
