Why have I never thought to use NIVEA as a night cream?!

Because it's fantastic! The stuff in a blue tub, well, actually it can be bought in a tube now which is nicer.

I've got weird combination skin and the dry bits are REALLY dry and sand papery especially around my T zone.I was using Eucerin 10% but even that stopped working.

I had a fever last week and my skin was really suffering and in desperation I bought some Nivea , slapped it on last night and this morning my skin is transformed!Shock

I googled it last night and there are pages and pages of enthusiastic reviews. Apparently Alison Steadman and Kate Winslet use nothing else. There are over a thousand positive reviews on makeup alley too.

There was also an experiment where a woman used Creme de la Mer on one side of her face and on the other Nivea and at the end of the month a dermatologist declared the Nivea side better and more hydrated.

Sorry if I'm late to the party and you're already all using it but I'm stunned at how nice it is. I'm going to get done Nivea soft for day use too under make up.

It's about a quid too-BARGAINGrin

Nivea is awful for my skin. Can't do petrochemicals.

holmessweetholmes · 01/10/2014 20:51

Another Nivea blue pot fan here. I use that as a night cream and Astral as a day cream. Only discovered them about 6 months ago.

The other thing I discovered on an MN thread a while back was putting face powder on BEFORE foundation (I know it sounds crazy but it's fab, honest). It works particularly well over a fairly rich day cream like Astral.

ThatBloodyWoman · 01/10/2014 20:53

I use nivea soft every day, and I have often had comments on my lovely skin.

vichill · 01/10/2014 21:28

Have used nivea for years and still get id'd at 32.The norwegian formula comfort balm is a bit lighter and better for when I'm spotty.

ThisBitchIsResting · 01/10/2014 21:37

Yay another convert Smile

I use Nivea every night, it's amazing. I sometimes use a few drops of oil first - I like Nuxe, massage it in then slather on the Nivea. Go to bed looking like an oil slick but wake with glowy soft smooth skin.

WowWowSauce · 01/10/2014 21:42

I've been using it for ages too - brilliant stuff and helps all the dry bits I get, when I remember to put it on. Best hand cream ever, really good for my face, works as cold cream cleanser (especially the Soft one, since it comes right back off again), and I even calm my hair down with it. Best £2 I ever spent! I have tubs all over the house and at work too.

TeaAddict235 · 01/10/2014 22:04

are you ladies putting it in as a hair mask then washing it out, or leaving it in wowwow?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 01/10/2014 22:07

Holmes-I did a thread on powder before foundation a while back, works well doesn't it?Smile

When you read the mermaid semen reviews it actually sounds like they are just repackaging (badly) Nivea. Like Peckham Spring water. Can't wait to buy Nivea tomorrow. My mum always used this when i was a kid, I wonder why she stopped. Thanks for the idea!

holmessweetholmes · 02/10/2014 07:41

Yes, DameDiazepam - it was a revelation!

CuttedUpPear · 02/10/2014 07:54

The smell of Nivea reminds me of my much loved and dear departed nanny who would lash it on whilst on family holidays.

Although the tub should have a dash of sand in it for the authentic 70's seaside experience Grin

KatieKaye · 02/10/2014 08:03

Another fan here. I tried blus Nivea after reading about it on a MN thread and think it's amazing.

ThatBloodyWoman · 02/10/2014 09:01

I find that the blue nivea is so stiff that I feel I'm nearly bruising my face trying to rub it in.I don't like the idea of dragging around my face and feel I may be potentially damaging tissue.

noddyholder · 02/10/2014 09:04

The cheap runny body lotion one you can buy in the 99p shop is great on legs

LittleBearPad · 02/10/2014 09:23

You have to warm it up a bit in your hands Bloody. Then it thins out a bit and is lovely.

TeamScotland · 02/10/2014 13:47

YY to warming it up. Or you can apply a really thick layer that takes all night to soak in. It's not like it costs £700 a tub like the mermaid semen Grin

Sookie65 · 02/10/2014 17:41

Leave it in. You only need a small amount....use it after you have styled your hair like a wax or serum.

WowWowSauce · 02/10/2014 18:05

Another vote for leave it in and just using a tiny bit. I use it as handcream and just take a little bit extra to smooth it through.

Eliza22 · 07/10/2014 19:57

I know it's not the same Nivea but, Nivea Soft got a big review in The Times Magazine this weekend by India Knight. She swears by it!

nomorecrumbs · 07/10/2014 20:01

Agree NoddyHolder - it keeps legs shiny for hours.

Eliza22 · 12/10/2014 11:24

It was YOU! DameDiazepam thank you, for the powder-before-foundation tip. Works beautifully Smile
