Tweed jackets and the over 40s

Well, not that far over but definitely enough over so that a tweed jacket might well run the risk of looking a little bit miss Jean Brodie

So, would a tweed jacket just be naff, or are there ways of making them look perky and fresh? Weekend with jeans, boots etc, or tube skirt? Poss pencil skirt for work?

Any help/views gratefully received. And please be honest! Tia

I just bought one from next. Its a harris tweed. Intend to wear it with my wide leg jeans. I really like it.

I kept the olive one, but the grey one was nice. I am a pear shaped so have to be careful to balance my shape out when a jacket is cut like this. Thats why widelegs are perfect for me. I have wideleg trousers for work that look great with it and cords and jeans. I will also wear my denim a-line skirt with it - tights and boots. I think it just a case of trying what works for you.
I am 46 but i dont feel i look frumpy.
