Have M&S bras improved recently?

I'm looking at their website (can't go into a shop as i live in France) and some of their bras have a 4/4.5 star rating with 80/90 reviews. Is it worth taking a chance or are they still rubbish. I still haven't forgiven them for telling me i was a 38D on the same day Rigby & Peller told me I was a 34GG about 5 years ago.

I've never had a problem with their bras, only their fitting, I have some now which are the comfiest, best fitting bras I've ever owned.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/09/2014 11:38

However, I did go into the shop and try about 10 different ones on before choosing these ones, I would say mail order is hit or miss unless you can return them easily.

Their bras are great. The problem is the people who fit them!

Fairylea · 28/09/2014 16:54

Some of their bras are okay. I like the fact some of the new under wired ones have a machine wash label on them ... makes things easier. But I still think they flatten and separate rather than lift and round - which brands like Freya and bravissimo own brands seem to do with ease.

I'd never go to them for a fitting though as you say!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/09/2014 16:54

I like the silk Rosie ones.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 28/09/2014 16:58

Never had a problem either. I don't get measured there just use my own measurements and try on. I find they do lift and create a nice shape depending on the style. I got fed up if paying £30 plus for bras from bravissimo etc and decided to give their g cups a try and a lot of the styles for lovely. I can't wear any of the plunge style ones but I can't in any brand. As I alway gets overspill and the bottom of the cup is empty in plunge bras.

I would try Brastop or Figleaves sale before I ventured there, tbh.
Also Debenhams have 20% off this weekend and sell brands like Freya, Fantasie etc.

My main quibble with M&S bras is that, for any cup size bigger than D, they double the strap width. I'm a 32 or 34 DD, or E, EE maximum, which doesn't mean I need double reinforcement in the strap department. I'd like to buy bras my size with pretty, slim straps. Rant over.

SorrelForbes · 28/09/2014 20:54

Bear in mind that they don't do an FF or a GG so you'll need to size up.

AnyFucker · 28/09/2014 21:01

I like M+S bras, once you have been properly fitted.

They are good quality, wash well and if you get the right fit and style, perfectly flattering.

MarchesMum · 28/09/2014 23:39

Sorrell, They do make a GG. I'm wearing a 40GG from m&s as we speak.

SorrelForbes · 29/09/2014 08:19

Ah ok, must just be some lines then. I know they usually don't do an FF.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 29/09/2014 08:29

Not for me, they've buggered about with their sizing and nothing fits.

Really annoying as they are cheap and machine wash for years.

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 29/09/2014 11:07

The bras are good but the sizing is inconsistent from a bra to the other.
I have some bras in 36D - I cannot wear them, my boobs overspill. Yet my 36DD bra is so big that you could put both my breasts in one cup.

I live in France too, the returns are not free and it is a real pain. I wish I could try them on before buying them.

DaPrincessBride · 29/09/2014 11:51

I found a plunge one in the sale for just a few quid...they seem to have increased their range of cup sizes, found far more H cups than before. Had to play around with the sizing a bit but it is actually a really good fit and £2.99

MarchesMum · 29/09/2014 13:45

Oh that's good. A Hcup I really what I need so will look a bit harder next time I'm in there. Thanks
