What socks/hosiery with trousers

Okay, 1st world problem I know, but- any recommendations for what hosiery/socks to wear with trousers? The knee length tight thing just seems to roll down and also shows up under skinniest, regular socks look bulky and I'd hoped to be able to wear my 7/8s with a sock underneath to keep my ankles warm now the weather is turning.
Any tips?

I want to know too :)
I normally wear those knee high tights ones, just need to make sure i put them on before the trousers, but not sure they're the most fashionable option....

If I'm wearing boots I wear opaque ankle high. Not very stylish but don't show!
