to the old formula?

If not, I need a new alternative. The Bourjois jobby isn't cutting it. I need something new, thick and amazing.

Last time I got a sample and tried it, it was still pants. Made me look about 140...

Have you tried Revlon Colorstay ? Not quite as good as the old formula of Double Wear but with careful application and loads of buffing I get a pretty good finish and it lasts quite a while on my oily skin. Superdrug also have it on offer at the moment for tenner. Failing that the new YSL Fusion Ink is pretty good, think the counters are still giving out samples. Also try Lancome Teint Idole Ultra - slightly thicker consistency like Doublewear. All of these are well out of my price range at the minute though so for the finish and price the Revlon one is a winner I think.,.....

I tries the revlon and it still didn't stick or cover like the old DW. I'll have a look at the megabucks versions. Foundation is the only thing I am willing to shell out on- my skin sucks!

Have you tried the newest Bourjois foundations? 123 Perfect and Happy something? I loved the old ELDW in Shell, and find that both of those foundations are good if applied with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. Failing that, I'd go to a Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier counter.

tethersend · 25/09/2014 21:39

Watching with interest.

murphys · 26/09/2014 08:55

I use DW and didn't realize that it was different now... What has changed? I didn't think that Colorstay was as good as DW as it left a cakey residue.

I'm not in UK, so I don't know if our DW is different. I have the box here, it says made in Belgium so I have to assume its the same...

penguinpaperback · 26/09/2014 09:00

Yes please, what has changed? Just ordered a replacement DW, old bottle is about 5 months old and seemed as usual. Have been wearing DW for the last 2 or 3 years. I hope it's not different, rubbish now. :-(

peachypips · 26/09/2014 09:10

I haven't actually tried the new formula- I just have heard from numerous sources that it has changed in both formulation and colour and just isn't as good.

Last night I looked on their web page and the reviewers seem on the whole to be satisfied although a few mention the change. Some mention ringing Estée Lauder and they they have def changed the formulation.

I might just try getting a sample. Have tried the Bourjois but they don't have the staying power on my greasy mush.

oooh oooh, go and get a sample of YSL new one, its called fusion, and ive just changed from doublewear to it. It goes on like silk - seriously, and its full to medium coverage. Not cakey at all.

I actually went in to buy doublewear but thought id see if i could get any samples, so i got this and a mac sample (didnt like the mac one - too cakey) but i LOVE the fusion one. Its like the toucheclat one but more matte and better coverage.

I tried going back to some cheap foundations recently too, but i think you get to an age where you cant really get away with the cheap ones anymore

penguinpaperback · 26/09/2014 09:32

Thanks peachy and Bran I had no idea EL had changed the formula.
Oh I wish make-up companies wouldn't mess with their best selling lines. They're best selling 'cos we like them how they are.

impatienceisavirtue · 26/09/2014 10:01

I'm a recent convert from mac studio fix to Doublewear so no idea what the old formula was like, but I love it as it is now, what is supposed to be wrong with the new formula?

tethersend · 26/09/2014 12:35

If I'm ivory nude (72) in DW, any idea what shade I'd be in the YSL fusion?

Branleuse · 26/09/2014 17:51

i couldnt tell you, sorry, but i suggest going in to debenhams and seeing because theyve got 20% off foundations at the moment

peachypips · 26/09/2014 18:43

Ooh good tip Bran - I'm off for a sample and my 20% off tmrw!

I am a convert from DW to this shiseido foundation.

Amazing. Has taken years off. It is good to put my make up on and actually feel happy.

whitebits · 28/09/2014 18:29

The Shiseido foundation looks lovely (most of their stuff is fab) but the words "highly moisturising" has me running for the hills I'm afraid. Skin is far too oily for these lovely radiance boosting foundations.....

bimbobaggins · 28/09/2014 18:59

Can anyone recommend an alternative to the lucidity loose powder? Have used it for years and now has been discontinued. Considered the doublewear loose powder but its out half the size and more expensive. Thanks

taytotayto111 · 28/09/2014 22:19

I have really oily skin, I just bought the DW in Ivory nude, it was way better than the Lancôme sample I tried although the Lancôme sample went on much nicer but didn't have the lasting power. Don't get me wrong I don't particularly like the DW but I've tried a lot and it lasted the longest on me. I tried colourstay it's just ok ish. I'll try YSL next I think. Unless anyone knows of better ? I'd pay anything to get a foundation that looked non cakes and didn't shine within hours. Plus didn't make my pores look Huge which I find DW can if I'm not careful applying it.

peachypips · 09/10/2014 11:30

Went to the stand today at Boots as it is gift time, and got normal DW and then DW maximum cover for my bad bits. In my opinion it is just as good as before, and I had a colour match and came out in Ecru for DW and Creamy Vanilla for the maximum cover, which were my previous colours. So no idea what the fuss was all about!

Top tip- I buy the maximum cover and use as a concealer- you get more for your money than if you buy the double wear concealer and it's easier to apply and more natural IMO.
