An alternative to jeans?

needastrongone · 24/09/2014 13:39

I have lots of pairs of jeans. Mainly skinny with a couple of boyfriend fit. I am a 6/8 but would usually get an 8 in jeans as there's nothing more uncomfortable than tight fitting jeans.

That being said, I don't find jeans in themselves all that comfortable. Summer is fine as I can wear dresses/shorts/chinos but I am back in my jeans again now the weather has cooled.

Has anyone got a comfortable alternative to jeans, even those that fit well?

I have a busy, mainly outdoors life that involves dogs and ponies, I don't need to be smart. I also wear leggings and yard boots.

Just a bit bored of my look but need to face up to the practicalities of my life.

Suggestions welcome and gratefully received Smile

What exactly don't you like about jeans?
I find some are far more comfortable than others.

Thanks coffee.

Agree, some are better than others, but none are as comfortable as leggings. Something always digs in or alternatively, falls down (waist).

I like dresses and tights or a tunic and leggings (probably a fashion no no), nothing seems to dig in Smile

Even chinos seem more comfortable tbh.

What about jeggings? I have some lovely cord jeggings which are a nice thick material but are stretchy, so they are really comfortable.

I got some black stretchy leggings from R Island today. They're thick though so great with winter jumpers, slouchy tees, boots etc.

I was starting to get sick of wearing jeans everyday as well.

I like Uniqlo legging trousers for a cheap option, lots of colours available.

Recently bought Boden Roma trousers and love them, bit like leggings but in thick fabric and with jeans-style pockets and waistband. They are v soft and comfy and look great. Was surprised because this was the third iteration of "Roma trousers" I've bought from them, hated the first two (previous seasons) and sent them back because they were like wetsuits! Always wished they would change the fabric to something softer and nicer and they have Smile

How about a tube jersey maxi skirt/slouchy layered jumper and biker boots for days when not involved with horses?

Naicecuppatea · 24/09/2014 16:46

Just browsing the Uniqlo site and came across these ponte trousers. Not quite as nice as the Boden ones as they do not have a proper jeans waist band but definitely a cheaper alternative - slightly tempted! www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/128876-69#02

Another vote for Boden Ponte Roma here.

polyhymnia · 24/09/2014 17:08

Agree this season's easily the best too .

Thanks all.

I very much love leggings and slouchy jumpers or jersey dresses. I bought quite a few last year.

Also have some really thick leggings from Next, the quality is great.

I'll check out the Roma trousers, I fell out with Boden a bit, as everything I ordered seemed to fit really badly, but it's probably 2 years since I last ordered, so things have probably changed.

Uniglo - 'tis a new one on me but I am browsing now, looks like bargainous site, how's the quality? Not that that would bother me for leggings, as I would always cover my bum up anyway Smile

Jeggings - I did buy a couple of pairs but they were too big on the waist. I like the idea of them though, so need to give them another try I think.

Judging by the amount on things that don't fit me, perhaps it's me Smile

I've never had a problem with Uniqlo quality, I find it great for the price Smile

Cords?

Twinklestein · 26/09/2014 22:53

I don't find jeans comfortable either. I wear them for going out rather for every day. To be fair they are all skin tight even the kick flares...

I wear lots of dresses and trousers - cigarette pants in black, brown, grey, camel etc...

In the winter I live in mini jumper dresses with wool tights and boots. So comfortable.
