Merrell Ellenwood - is it worth it?

I've just come across a site selling the Merrell Ellenwood on sale, but it's still pretty pricey. Is it really worth it? Will I kick myself if I don't take advantage of this bargain??

Is it a coat? How much?

I've just had a quick google and seen them described as ' devastatingly beautiful ' which made me LOL

musicmum75 · 24/09/2014 10:58

Yep, it's a coat. Reduced from £190 to £120. Yes, I think devastatingly beautiful is a bit of an over-statement for what is essentially a posh anorak.

Hmm. I don't ' love ' it but it's 'ok'

Have you seen the whistles thea parka ? Now that's a nice coat

musicmum75 · 24/09/2014 11:13

Will google it, thanks. Was interested in the Ellenwood as I've heard it's very warm and waterproof so excellent for horrible weather. Will search out the Whistles one too though.

I tried on a North Face Suzanne and fell in love. It's over £300. Ouch! I need a warm coat but don't have a spare few thousand!
I will watch this thread for ideas!!

Hundred. Not thousand. Aargh iPhone!!!

musicmum75 · 24/09/2014 11:19

Eek £300! I wouldn't want to pay that either! I have also heard good things about the Target Dry Georgia, but I'm not keen on the colours. Would prefer something black.

ooh - just googled that North Face coat. It is really nice! Way too pricey though.

I've got the Ellenwood precursor (Wakefield) non-insulated version, and it is great for wet weather, plus I like the fit.

I'd steer away from non-technical makes (like Whistles) for coats to actually keep you dry.

The NF one doesn't look that dissimilar to the Merrell.

musicmum75 · 24/09/2014 11:35

Thanks Carrie74. Agree, I am looking for something functional, rather than fashionable, but would like it to look nice too.

Yes, the North Face one is very similar isn't it. Much more expensive though! I thought the Merrell was pricey!!
