Here you go Crepesters...

OP posts:
beachyhead · 08/10/2014 15:26

Richard for me too.... although I love BTN, she doesn't care enough, I don't think.

BTM, the piercing 'is a snug'or 'is on the snug' - no idea really, but its on the inside curly bit, IYKWIM (of the ear, in case you are wondering!) I'm really hoping she might stop here. She'll fall over with the weight of it all soon.

I've had a day of jobs, taking ddog to the vet for an ear infection. It was the first time going back since ddog2 died in June, so I was very tearful. Silly I know, but still gets to me.

Crem, I so hope your body holds up for Saturday. I'm a great believer in how pain times itself. Your body simply would not let you have this much pain in the summer as you had so much else to deal with, so now you have a little spare time, it's let rip all guns blazing. Horrible, but better than having to deal with it in the summer.

I'm free. I finish in New Cross about 3pm, we might pop to see some old Sarf London friends for a cup of tea, then I will bung dd on a train and mosey on up. Dd is also trying to do some photographic work for college, apparently in charity shops - so watch out SE London crepeys......

I'll be there at 6pm. I'm dashing home that night, so please kick me out at a reasonable time, otherwise I'll be sleeping on the station concourse!

lalsy · 08/10/2014 15:28

Loving Reckless Holidays Grin.

I'm backing Richard, like Nancy too, but dh favours Luis. dh is going to a school social event tonight that I should probably be going to as well, so guilt will make me wait till we can watch it together. Dh absolutely loves GBBO; his other favourite programmes are The Wire, Breaking Bad and Walking Dead.Confused

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 15:31

Beachy, is that at the top of the ear? DD has one she calls a cartilage on the side bit near the top, and wants one on that little bit that sticks out in the middle on the other sideHmm

beachyhead · 08/10/2014 15:50

No we've done cartilage already... It's the bit between the outside rim, which is the cartilage and the little wobbly bit attached to your face Grin I'll bring pictures on Saturday!!

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 15:50

Cremo - that's really awful about your leg. I do hope it holds out for London. NU why don't you want the other knee replaced - does the new one never quite feel the same or is it about the recovery time?

I've just come back from my teaching assistant job. On 5th November, the teacher is away so I get to do the lesson - I am feeling quite daunted by 11 eight year olds, although they are very sweet. I shall think of a bonfire night lesson plan.

motherinferior · 08/10/2014 16:11

I have sent off two features. I must commission some more...

cremolafoam · 08/10/2014 16:12

Ooer Herbs, gosh no . Richard is a bit Madeira cake Cake for me. Much prefer a big Dark Chocolate Eclairrrr.. myself. Fnar!

Beachy, dd has had the nose done, It was a trade off between that and a half shaven head. Not sure if I won that tbh. In her recent Skypes she's only lit one side of her face and keeps turning sideways....
[inward shriek] tattoos are OFF LIMITS. JUST NO!

motherinferior · 08/10/2014 16:17

OK, yes, he is clean-cut. He'll be heartbroken to hear I've changed my mind, of course.

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 16:26

What is the silver thing that covers the outer rim of your ear - is that an ear glove? It
looks like it just clips on and would be much better than piercing.

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 16:33

Ahh, I think that's what DD wants to get pierced too! I'll ask her if it's called the snug. Sadly those clippy-on things just don't cut it when you are a teen trying to show you have a bit of personalityWink She actually wants a nose piercing but DH is well against that!

Hatty, there are loads of good resources online about Guy Fawkes....

Great analogy, Cremo!

herbaceous · 08/10/2014 16:38

In other news, I am now wearing my Trousers of Truth, SITTING DOWN. I may shortly take them off, however.

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 16:46

HerbsGrin - I tried on some trousers fro. last winter this morning and had to take them off after 15mins.

BTM - I've found some great stuff online although I may just stick to bonfires and fireworks as Guy Fawkes is beyond them agewise and because most of them are half French and so get very confused.

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 16:57

HerbsEnvy

I do Guy Fawkes with my 7-9 year olds. Admittedly they aren't half French, but despite their other issues they do sort of get the idea! It is currently Black History Month and they are definitely understanding what we are doing about that!

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 17:07

So I won't get complaints from parents about the burning a guy on the bonfire bit?

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 17:10

Well it's only a stuffed effigy!
His real execution was far worse (see Wiki!), but I have never gone into details, just said he was executed/hanged.

I like the children to know why we have fireworks and bonfires on the 5th, so they need to know the storyWink

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 17:21

OK will build it into the lesson on adjectives. Smile

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 19:43

Parents Evening was Worse Than Expected.

Thank God GBBO is on shortly!

NUFC69 · 08/10/2014 19:45

I have nothing to add about piercings or tattoos, DD was desperate to get her ears pierced when she was 14. She DTD, wore studs for about 2 years, and then gave up and hasn't worn earrings since. I had mine pierced as an act of rebellion for my 40th birthday. Grin Should it be a tattoo when I reach the next big milestone?

Hatty, I find my knee replacement very limiting, I have little feeling down the outside of my leg because they cut the sciatic nerve. Before the op I was very mobile but in pain. Now I have no pain but limited mobility. Sad Devil and the deep blue sea comes to mind. I am, however, now feeling encouraged about cataract ops as I would love not to have to wear glasses.

I think it's a great pity that Halloween has taken over from Bonfire Night. These days I never see children collecting "money for the Guy". And I know fireworks are dangerous but we used to have wonderful fun.

NUFC69 · 08/10/2014 19:47

Flowers, BTM.Do not lose heart (even if DS loses privileges).

cremolafoam · 08/10/2014 19:57

Oh BTM . Feel for you.
Cake for all except ds maybe?Wink
Hoping not too many misdemeanours.

T minus 3 minutes to GBBO
........

hattymattie · 08/10/2014 20:01

NU - Here I was thinking it was the solution to everything. I shall keep my dodgy knees and full mobility for as long as I can.

BTMSad

Rosebag · 08/10/2014 20:46

Been there, Tilly, and then some, especially with DS1, but he's turned out just fine and so will your DS. Our parents evenings were dark days indeed…particularly the one when only the PE teacher gave him a clean bill of health, so to speak. Flowers Cake and Wine

Can live with moderate piercings…but am not a fan of tattoos. Each to his own, I say, but I have two very small radiotherapy tattoos left over from my treatment, which I'm not allowed to have removed. Cant think why anyone would actually want one.

Crem the pain sounds miserable, you poor thing. And you too NU I have Achilles tendonitis (self diagnosed) partic bad on the right side. I think I'm going to need physio and custom made orthotics. Its getting to be chronic…

Going to have to see GBBO on catch up at 9 o'clock so Shhhhh Grin

Stropperella · 08/10/2014 20:55

I cannot tell you how much my day was lifted by finding out MrS's unexpected predilection for secret body art. Most cheering. Grin

Crem, really sorry to hear about the pain. I hope that it will ease.

BTM, sympathies on the parents' evening front. Your ds is such a charming chap, though.

House is currently a vast tip of dust and upset. Electrician is half-way through what he has to do, the plasterer is coming tomorrow, the scaffolding is still up and the roofer is nowhere to be seen (not sure what that is about) and I think we may have finally found someone to do the carpet.

Soooo tired after waking at 3.30 yesterday, getting up at 5 and leaving at 6 to get to Surrey for 8.45. Will need to leave at 5.30 to get there for teaching prac. Am feeling a bit unhinged with exhaustion and have a huge amount to do, both paid work and study and other stuff. Just trying to get through the hours.

MI, glad you survived Tuesday. My parents sold my childhood home when I was expecting dd and moved to the next village. I have very mixed feelings about that house and am not in the least bit sad not to have to ever revisit my childhood bedroom. Miserable, lonely place, quite frankly.

Dcs are watching GBBO - which I have never watched, but then I hardly ever watch any TV at all - and eating cheesecake. Dh and I are sitting next door in the makeshift dining-room/office. Have just overheard dd saying to ds "Don't scratch your willy with a spoon". I looked quizzically at dh and he just said "Ah well, we've all done it." Hmm

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2014 21:00

Yay!

Crepeys ruleSmile

MI did you hear when Richard said he liked a bit of ginger!

Thanks for all the sympathy. We will live. DS might not thoughGrin

Stropps, that made me splurt my hot chocGrin Hope you get some sleep tonight.

Blackduck · 08/10/2014 21:09

Love the fact Richard made Nancy's curve for her roof (drain pipe!) - feeling the love...

BTM - how bad?!
