Here you go Crepesters...

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 30/09/2014 12:16

Cremo, I somehow missed your post about poor DD - tricky when you can't pop in to help them.

Rose, I can't believe they rang home about that! I remember burning my hair accidentally in science and I got told off for being so careless, but nothing more!

MrsS, you have reminded me that we need to get DD a new passport. And I am planning to take her to New York next October (as a GCSE bribe!)

motherinferior · 30/09/2014 12:24

I have bought two (2, ii) train tickets to go and see my mum for hospital appointments...suddenly my cold looks shiny and new.

Rose, the soup was made up as I went along, really: just put the cauli, floreted, in the oven along with unpeeled garlic cloves, brought the stock (I used a packet of liquid stock) to boiling in a casserole, tipped in the peas and slammed the lid back on and switched off; and then chucked in the veg (squeezed out the garlic) when it was done along with the juice of a lemon with which I deglazed the roasting tin. It worked. I am about to eat the rest of it for lunch before venturing outside Shock for the first time in days to get tissues.

I want to spend some money on nice skincare and/or shower stuff. May I, please, fellow-Crepeys?

NUFC69 · 30/09/2014 12:44

I am sitting here and wondering if I ought to offer to grandparent the BOGOF offers plus extras. When they have all left home, and the house is quiet and dull, you will miss them. (At the moment, though, you would probably prefer the quiet and dull). Grin

I have just made the tomato soup cake - will report back on people's reactions when I serve it at the weekend.

I am afraid Nucat is shut in the kitchen and utility room overnight; on the odd occasion when I relent he bounds on the bed in the early hours, or scratches the bed until we (DH) goes to feed him.

I was woken up by DH announcing that he had an enormous spot on his lip (it's horrendous, and I wouldn't venture forth if I had it). Tbh it's more like a boil and will need watching.

Crem, I hope DD is feeling better, plus all the other Crepeys. I think I am over my lurgy.

I am very envious of people contemplating going to New York. Envy

wilbur · 30/09/2014 15:28

NUFC - quiet and dull - sounds bliss Grin but I get what you mean. Ds2 spent most of yesterday afternoon shouting about his English homework and how I was SO MEAN to suggest he might look up the words "nice" and "good" and "cool" in the child thesaurus we have to see if he could come up with an alternative. Any alternative. He says he doesn't know ANY OTHER WORDS. Sigh.

Yes, yes, BD - that's the original article - thanks for the link as I had lost it. Smile

Crem sorry your dd has been in the wars, I seem to remember the Fresher Flu was pretty virulent in my day too. Thank god for being able to PayPal for cold remedies - that will make her feel hugged from afar.

motherinferior · 30/09/2014 15:42

DD2 started the day by panicking about not having a packed lunch (she has swing band on Tuesday lunchtimes - the music staff are leaping on her like lions on a small trumpet-playing gazelle and roping her in to a variety of ensembles) and we had no bread and allegedly no time to run up pasta'n'pesto. I did Emergency Couscous. She stomped off. However, she texted me at lunchtime to say thank you Shock so it must have been reasonably nice.

It was hot when I went out! Bought myself some fairly nice Sanctuary shower oil but what I really want is posh Occitane shower oil.

beachyhead · 30/09/2014 16:54

I can't remember where we are meetingHmm could someone PM me? I think I may be making the midnight dash home, but I'm doing logistics at the moment!!!!

motherinferior · 30/09/2014 17:44

I can't remember either, Beachy! I tend to get on the 185 bus and wait for fellow-Crepeys to join me...

cremolafoam · 30/09/2014 18:00

Upstairs in the Mulberry Bush public house
Upper Ground
LahndonGrin
here for 7pm although meeting a bit earlier downstairs. There will be sharing platters at £10pp , after which drinks can be got at the bar downstairs and brought up. They have bottles of naice wine from approx £17 upwards etc.
it looks q pretty

Beachy if you would like to pm me about where I'm staying and joining me let me know.

cremolafoam · 30/09/2014 18:10

What I mean is, if anyone wants to meet earlier that 7pm...
Not sure if I'll manage much earlier, given the epic journey that is the flight from Belfast International.Shock

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2014 18:27

Looking forward to it - could get there earlier...

DD has gone off with her mates to a concert at the Ally Pally. They are apparently coming back here after, God knows what time that will be!

DS is at footy training and DH at a meeting, so I am home alone for a bitSmile

Rosebag · 30/09/2014 18:45

Certainly you should spend on nice stuff MI. I like Liz Earle for skin. Dunno about shower gel. I'm just a soap and water gal.
I am home alone …bliss.Smile DS2 is helping at the school prospective parents evening in the music dept. He went off wearing a suit and tie…i think the prospective students will mistake him for a teacher Grin and DH has take DD to a year 10 GCSE talk. I have escaped both as have choir later. I am going to have a nice plate of shepherds pie…boring but lovely and watch the end of a film 'Quartet" which is hilarious and has a brilliant crepey, operatic vibe. Has anyone seen it?
Other S&B shizzle….none of my lot ever notice when I've had my hair done. Change hairdresser or change family?

Rosebag · 30/09/2014 18:46

tilly Ally Pally is down the road from me….

beachyhead · 30/09/2014 18:54

Ah, BTM, my dd is going to THAT concert tomorrow night, though god knows why on the basis it's a good 100 miles from home on a school night Grin

I may be on the Crepey bus on the way as I am spending the afternoon in an art school in Sarf London, cunningly named after an 'artisan who works with precious metals!'

Crem, I will certainly PM you. Hope your dd feels better soon.

herbaceous · 30/09/2014 19:04

Hey crepeys! If you watch London tonight, you'll see my manor discussed, re a trial 'Mini Holland' which is causing quite the rumpus on social media.

Utterly exhausting day at my placement college. Continually amused by the total crepeyness of all the teachers. All women, all 50+, linen shirts, cigarette pants, reading glasses on the head, with expressions everything from harried to vague.

Met my tuition group, and all but one irritate the very pants from my body. I may have to once more breathe deeply.

Blackduck · 30/09/2014 19:26

Is it really only tuesday?

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2014 19:30

Beachy, I thought DD was going some trekking up to Ally Pally, but it's not 100 miles - how will your DD get back? Last train?
And re the Crepey bus - let's meet on it, or if you are finished early, come to mine en route - Stropps is staying so we can have a pre-meet-up party!

Herbs, I saw that! Was hoping I would see you - looks a right old dogs dinner!
Re crepey outfits, back in the day, before I was crepey, I used to go for INSET regularly at a local Literacy place. They all looked identical there - similar styleGrin Sorry the group are so irritating - maybe you and the other one can form a sub-group and moan about the others

Having just washed my hair, DH has informed me that he is going to the footy and I have to pick DS up from the station. I may be in my PJ'sGrin

NUFC69 · 30/09/2014 19:36

I am still eeking out the Rhubarb and Rosemary handwash and cream which I was given back in May (I put it away when I discovered that DGS1 was using it copiously when he visited). MI, I love L'Occitane, but like Rose I am a soap and water person, too. I love the Dove Shea Butter and Vanilla soap and am gradually persuading family to use it, too. DD has discovered that it helps with her psoriasis, which is a bit surprising.

The lurgy has returned "momentarily" as they say, and I am feeling very tired and uncomfortable in my lower stomach. I couldn't be bothered to cook so DH has gone to get himself some fish and chips - I don't think I can face anything.

beachyhead · 30/09/2014 19:48

BTM, that is a 'nail polish revenge' request that you pick up from the station Grin

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2014 20:12

My phone has just deleted all my photo's off it. Karma for the nail varnish (DH was nowhere near!) Luckily they are all downloaded onto the PC, but grrrrAngry

motherinferior · 30/09/2014 21:10

Rosebag, one's nearest and dearest NEVER notice.

I've just realised (a) I left crucial info off my India visa application - fortunately it hasn't been sent off yet (b) my mum's appointments clash with CDiff deadlines...

Stropperella · 30/09/2014 21:16

Am lying in the bath (poss tmi Grin Grin) feeling pleased that I have a waterproof phone. Dear god, I am knackered. Drove to Surrey yesterday late afternoon, with thoughts of doing a nicely large amount of homework yesterday evening. No such luck, as got co-opted into helping with no. 1 lazy-arse nephew's French homework. Then no. 2 nephew had monumental homework-related tantrum that went on for about an hour (and his mother is a SENco). Woke up at 4am in true Crepey style, stressing about coursework, lack of income, insane commute and the fact that we now have a large hole in the roof covered by a tarpaulin and the roofer has not yet confirmed what day this week he'll be back to demolish the rest and make a bloody big mess of our office. Too many spoilt naice mummies on course, but have made luffley new non-spoilt friend with whom to be cynical. Course still fab but commuting hideous. Seriously, how do you SE folk cope with rush hour driving? It is mad and causes me to lose the will to live (well, almost).
Dd and dh have lurgy and have given it to dm. Am washing hands obsessively and scoffing vit c and zinc in feeble attempt to dodge the germs.

Stropperella · 30/09/2014 22:31

Gawd, that post makes me look like a right ungrateful, chippy old bag. Which is of course probably what I am. Grin Am however seriously Angry and Shock at Dn2's behaviour as my dm applies entirely different standards to my dcs than she does to db's. I should rise above that stuff but still don't quite manage to.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/09/2014 22:55

We wouldn't want you any other way apart from an ungrateful, chippy old bag, Stropps. Grin

Blackduck · 01/10/2014 06:01

I second MrsS Stropps....

All you uni droppers - I am on the other end of that, and through my bods are older I have seen a fair number of dads this week :)

Auriga · 01/10/2014 07:32

I have only one useful thing to say...BTM get the carpet fitter to patch the carpet. Ours did, when DD spilt nail varnish on her new one. £30. Invisible to everyone but me.

Sympathy to the poorly ones. Herbs and Stropps, keep up your courage & all the best with the settling-in pains.

Extracting myself from job was like a week-long cross between a wedding and a funeral, with four (4, IV) leaving dos. Think it went as well as it could have done, though some of it was wrenchingly sad. Still disorientated but starting to get on with what comes next.

QQ, are you trapped under rubble in the kitchen?
