What's your S&B 'thing?'

Everyone has something that they've got loads of already but can't resist a new addition to the collection.

For me it's coats. I have five Gilets, and probably eight jackets and several winter coats, I added to the collection yesterday with a lovely Mint Velvet Boucle coat. God knows why, just loved it!

I'm also partial to mascara, lip gloss and trainers. It's actually an illness , right? Grin

What's your thing ?

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 23/09/2014 18:50

Nightwear

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 23/09/2014 18:50

Oh & lip balms!

Scrumbled · 23/09/2014 20:37

Cardigans and chunky boots.

Behoove · 23/09/2014 20:41

I keep buying dresses for the me who lives in my head.
Then the me who lives in my body takes them back the next day Sad
Another one going back to Coast tomorrow..lovely it is too

MallowsMiaow · 23/09/2014 21:31

Red lipstick and red nail varnish. Not entirely sure why I've ended up with so many of each. Confused

Superlovely · 23/09/2014 21:34

Blue things: trousers, tops, jeans, cardigans.
Varying shades but most of my wardrobe is blue!

CointreauVersial · 23/09/2014 22:39

Scarves. I have thousands.

And nail varnish. It goes with the territory if your other half works for a cosmetics company.

whatiswrongwithyou · 23/09/2014 23:46

Grey jumpers here too! Had to restrain myself earlier from purchasing yet another, but this time grey and cashmere - fatal!

HolgerDanske · 24/09/2014 07:01

Boots, shoes, bags, scarves.

BettyMoody · 24/09/2014 07:02

Please you aren't "ooh I'm all about the shoes" women though? They are similar to "ooh i'm a chocoholic crazee"

BettyMoody · 24/09/2014 07:03

I like grey. Looks dire on me tho. I buy jeans a lot. Mostly baxters on eBay

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/09/2014 07:07

I don't actually buy many perfumes as I am incredibly fussy about them, but can't walk past anywhere that sells it without sniffing and spraying a few. Got about 6 at the moment.

Shoes are a nightmare for me, I've got a bad back necessitating flats 99% of the time and very wide feet, I wear sandals for as much of the year as I can bear, usually well into October.

HolgerDanske · 24/09/2014 07:20

Well no, I don't think I am one of 'those' women, actually. I'm not consciously all about the shoes. I'm also not a dumb-dumb. And I eat very low carb so I can't have chocolate at all.

I like lots of things and would spend a fortune if I could. Sadly I don't have a fortune so my spending choices are limited. There's a tendency towards spending on the items I mentioned more easily, that's all.

I spent many years not really buying clothes because I was much bigger than I used to be and didn't feel lIke 'me', so I got used to buying accessories that were easy to wear and where size didn't matter. I'm now three stone lighter and four sizes smaller, so not far from the young and fashionable me, and I am really enjoying being able to (mostly) wear what I want. I spent some money over the past few months to build up a new wardrobe, and when I looked over my haul the other day I realised I had fallen into old habits and had ended up with more than a few pairs of shoes and boots and not actually many items of clothing.

So yes, my thing is boots, shoes, bags, and scarves.

If I had a lot of money my thing would be leather jackets (particularly bikers) and blazers, plus a wide selection of carefully chosen clothing all working together to form a cohesive wardrobe. Sophisticated but cool with it and not too try-hard.

lovetoski · 24/09/2014 07:23

Shampoo, conditioner, serum, oils, heat treatments anything that promises me straight hair then never delivers. Also will join in on the scarves and grey jumpers/tops.

BettyMoody · 24/09/2014 07:28

the chocolate was just an analogy - not a venn diagram Wink

FelicityFoxton · 24/09/2014 07:31

Dunno Betty, I've not seen anyone yet say ' ooh I'm all about the shoes ' in a crazy way '

OP posts:
BettyMoody · 24/09/2014 07:32

havent you?
oh god there is one in every workplace.

HolgerDanske · 24/09/2014 07:41

Heh yes I did gather that but just thought I would make it clear anyway :-D

I find anyone who is overly exuberant about their 'quirkiness' or 'crazeeeness' very wearing indeed, particularly if it takes a very cliched form, so I'm not disagreeing with you. But I don't believe that being interested in shoes or bags or make up has to be synonymous with being a complete dumb-dumb. It's perfectly possible to have enough room in one's head for style and beauty and more worthy things.

AmberNectarine · 24/09/2014 09:20

crazy shoe lady checking in.

Stupidhead · 24/09/2014 09:33

Lipsticks. I have 3 Mac ones exactly the same. I just walked past the counter and thought 'wow! The perfect colour!' Got home and it's identical to the one I had. Twice.

mothermirth · 24/09/2014 09:34

Grey jumpers, usually cashmere. Eight last count. Blush

dinkystinky · 24/09/2014 10:05

Dresses. God knows why as I wear trousers most of the week!
But cant resist a fabulous dress that is a great colour and cut and looks good on

leedy · 24/09/2014 10:29

adds to list:

  • grey jumpers (I was looking for something in my wardrobe this morning and realized I had five, and just bought one last week)
  • lipsticks that are almost but not quite identical to lipsticks I already own
