Why is it ok to wear a shirt that is so thin that your bra shows, but not ok to wear leggings/dress/skirt that are so thin that your knickers show?

A stab in the dark......perhaps because the average pair of boobs look better than the average bottom.

Just to make things really confusing. According to trend reports for SS15, the big fashion is to wear see through skirts Wink

God no melon. I'm getting images of simpering lady di photo with the sunlight behind making her skirt very see through.

Is it really ok to have your bra showing? Haven't done that since the nineties (had better boobs then, and better bras).

CMOTDibbler · 22/09/2014 15:30

I don't think it is acceptable to wear a shirt so thin your bra shows

Walking out of the school playground and to the town centre this lovely, sunny morning, I saw countless women in thin blouses. (Not me, I hasten to add! Not only do I firmly believe that underwear belongs under clothes and should therefore be invisible, but I feel the cold and was bundled up in a fleece.) I'd say that, among the non-cardie/fleece-wearers, bras were more often on view than not.

OTOH there were only a handful of leggings-as-trousers-wearers and skinny-dress-wearers, with more than just a VPL.

Visible bra? Ok, not my taste, but seems to be the norm. Visible knickers? Ouch, I think I've just given myself a judgey-pants wedgie.

Id be willing to bet that the bra showers were all under 30, if not under 20.

No visible underwear is about the only sartorial advice I give to interns and trainees at work. When they look a bit 'Eh?' (all lovely 20-somethings who work on the basis it is v. fetching and cool) I say 'Well, would you like to be able to see mine, or [insert names of various old fogeys on workforce]'s?' they say "Urgh no", and then I say, 'Yes, quite.'
