Your favourite foundation

Hello

What's everyone favourite foundation? I'm on the dregs of a bottle and need to get a new one tomorrow but I'm a bit out of love with recent purchases.

I've just finished a bare minerals liquid foundation. It was a bit too pale, gathered in my fairly minimal wrinkles and aged me terribly. I only persevered because I didn't want to throw it out.

Prior to this I used a Clinique Super Balanced foundation but found it hard to blend and gave me a slightly orange hue. It dried my skin out badly too. Then before that I used Clinique Moisture Surge but again it gave me a slightly orange hue.

I'm 36, have good skin with a few light lines, reasonably even skin tone. I don't want heavy coverage, just something light and moisturising to even things out and give me a fresh dewy look. My skin tends to go quite dry with make up but heavy moisturisers and oily products give me an awful break out. Happy to spend up to £30 on a bottle but equally happy with a £5 bottle if it does the job.

I'm really liking lancome teint miracle at the moment. Nice dewy finish and not too oily on my combination skin. Pricey though...

Only1scoop · 22/09/2014 09:21

Love ysl touche eclait foundation....not to heavy and doesn't sit in my many lines.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 22/09/2014 09:26

Lancome Miracle Air de teint - I love it, really light coverage but doesn't wear off too quickly. First foundation in ages that I've bought twice in a row, i'm always fed up by the time I get to the bottom of the bottle. I've also had 3 people ask me what it is. Lovely finish.

VeryLittleGravitasIndeed · 22/09/2014 09:26

By Terry Light Expert, over primer (currently Korres oak & quercetin). I LOVE it, very light a bit like a TM but makes my skin look so much better like I've actually slept!

coffeenut · 22/09/2014 09:27

clinique turns orange on me too.

giorgio armani
lancome teint idole ultra (I like heavier or at least buildable coverage though)
chanel also do some very moisturising foundations (too dewy for me) - aqualumiere seems to be popular for those with reasonable skin.

goodasitgets · 22/09/2014 09:29

Urban decay naked skin liquid foundation. No idea why it's not posted about more, I apply it with a real techniques stippling brush and it's lovely. Tiny bit needed, covers but people always say "oh you have such amazing skin" Wink

SorrelForbes · 22/09/2014 09:30

Georgia Armani Silk
No7 Lift and Luminate

murphys · 22/09/2014 10:28

Estee Lauder Double Wear.

Chanel aqua Vitalumiere

BunnyLebowski · 22/09/2014 10:37

MAC Face and Body would definitely suit your needs.

Armani Luminous Silk is gorgeous as well and provides dewy and sheer but buildable coverage Smile .

Lancome Teint Miracle

I wore it yesterday after not wearing it for ages and the difference was amazing!

SaltySeaBird · 22/09/2014 11:17

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lots of people recommending the Lancome, I'll pop to my nearest counter and check it out on my lunch break tomorrow.

Armani is lovely. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is surprisingly good for the price as well.

BunnyLebowski · 22/09/2014 11:50

leedy I have the non-serum Healthy Mix foundation (it's better for dryer skin) and it is seriously amazing.

Most days I find myself reaching over my expensive foundations to use that one!

Cheesymonster · 22/09/2014 12:56

I am using bourjois healthy mix serum too. Makes me look awake instead of a knackered mum of a toddler. Am watching with interest though as I am contemplating treating myself to a high end foundation.

SaltySeaBird · 22/09/2014 13:30

The only thing that puts me off the Bourjois one is that review sites say the colours tend to be on the yellow side which wouldn't suit me - at least coming into the winter - and a lot of the good reviews (on Boots anyway) are from people younger than 18 or 18-24 and I always think their requirements are quite different to me with my ageing skin that's double their age (I'm 36).

I've not seen an Armani make up counter anywhere, a few people have mentioned that one now too. Will see if I can hunt down a local one, I'm loathe to buy online without colour matching.

I really don't rate the Bourjois foundation,I binned it.

My favourite is Revlon colour stay , perfect colour and lasts ages. I recently got the whipped version too on line as it's not available in the UK. No idea why as it's fantastic.

leedy · 22/09/2014 13:43

FWIW, the Bourjois one works pretty well with my skin and I'm 42.

I am quite yellow-toned, though.

MyMeMy · 22/09/2014 14:05

I used the Lancome Teint Miracle for ages and loved it, then I tried the Air De Teint - it's bloody amazing!
Very lightweight but covers most blemishes andlovely finish, I just need a tiny bit of concealer.
Definitely worth a try if you're going near a Lancome counter anyway.

GeorginaWorsley · 22/09/2014 15:25

I loved YsL Touched eclat foundation but it didn't last on me.
I always end up reverting to Double Wear
or at the moment Double Wear light.

Diryan · 22/09/2014 15:39

I've just got samples of a couple of Boots No7 ones, and like them both. There's a sheer one called Luminate (or something like that) and one which has a heavier coverage called Stay Perfect.

buttercrumble · 22/09/2014 16:12

I love Revlon photo ready m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/Revlon-PhotoReady%C2%99-Makeup_1042568/ it's amazing stuff with a beautiful finish and reasonably priced Smile

ocelot41 · 22/09/2014 17:50

Chanel Lift Lumiere. Its just...marvellous.

GeorginaWorsley · 22/09/2014 19:37

I may try the Chanel one.
Am constantly searching for the Holy Grail foundation!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/09/2014 19:41

YSL Teint éclat has been my fave for years. But the new YSL skin fusion is phenomenal - invisible and stays put all day.
