False Lashes

Does anyone wear false eyelashes and if so do you apply them yourself or have them done at a salon? If you do them yourself, what brand do you use? If you have them done at a salon, how long do they last, cost, etc?

it depends what look you are wanting.

More natural look or for smaller eyes.
I apply individual ones myself. The ones that have about 4 lashes per group using lash glue from Sallys. I wouldn't use the glue that comes in the box as I find it a bit harsh. I use Eylure ones as they are good quality and don't split when you take them off the box with tweezers. Just a few to the outer corners of your eye makes them appear more almond shaped and bigger.
There are loads of videos on Youtube. Have a look and make sure you give yourself plenty of time as it is fiddly. I find they only last the night as you always lose a few in your sleep

For strip lashes for a more dramatic look I used Ardell lashes with Duo glue.
Duo has good adhesion and is easy to come off. Apply to the strip lash with a kirby grip and wait 20 seconds to go tacky. I'd also recommend trimming the lashes as they're always way too wide for the eye before application and giving them a wee bend so they follow the curve of your eye. Again- Youtube for videos. Again they only last a night. before you want to rip them off your eyes

I have had lash extensions by Novalash before. They are expensive. Around £50-60 but they last 2-3 weeks then need infilled. I wouldn't use mascara on them though as they tend to dry out and go clumpy. They'd be great for holidays but can look quite dramatic day to day but you can discuss what you want with the beauty therapist beforehand.

The secret to lash application is to take your time. I've abandoned many a set of eyelashes with 15 minutes to go out and I end up all sweaty. heh!

I use individual lashes as described above.

The black glue from Sally's and the cluster individual lashes from eyelure. I use all one length (short usually) and put them close together across the full lash.

Be careful though, I used them for years and was nearly totally bald of lash by the end of it.... So addictive though!

I have used the cheap ones from Primark, which are OK when you want a dramatic look. However, you can find ones of higher quality at a very low price at one of those stores that sell hair. You know, those beauty supply places located in markets and slightly lower-end retail areas. (In Manchester, there are two on Oldham Street and a couple in the Arndale Market.) You can get lashes made with human hair for about £2.

For the glue, I bought a bottle of Duo glue (slightly smaller than a bottle of nail polish and lasts a long time.)

I recommend playing around with cheaper ones until you get the hang of them.
