Tights audit - place your bets

It's getting to that tights time of year.

I am going to count my tights.

And then throw our any that are not perfect.

No only a hole on one toe

No I can wear these with boots where the rubs won't show

Any that are not nice will get chucked.

How many pairs do you think I have?

Haha - is that the guess for how many I will have LEFT after I get rid of al the dodgy ones?

I'd only end up with the dodgy American Tan ones that are still in the packet from when I won them in a school raffle ten years ago. I don't know why I still give them drawer space!

Last year I only wore tights a handful times yet I have approx 20 pairs. I'd say if ur a regular wearer u have approx 35 pairs??!?

After all the dodgy ones (though I would darn small holes and runs in the feet) I would have 2 pairs. The woolly ones I don't like wearing, and the fleece lined ones that only come out for bonfire night/the turning on of the christmas lights and other chilly occasions. I think I have 10 pairs of black opaques and an undisclosed number of coloured or lacy tights which lurk around hopefully

5 different shades of purple (one textured)
1 grey
2 navy
1 green
3 brown
8 nude (5 Kate Middleton, 3 micronet)
10 black (5 plain, 5 patterned in some way)

So that's 30

I'm impressed OP. I practically lived in knee high boots and skirts last winter and all my opaque tights have pulled / bobble bits from the zip, so when I want to wear them with shoes they look crap. I need a system for boots-tights and shoes-tights.
You spurred me into opening the drawer to check mine; I have dozens of imperfect plain opaque black, two pairs of marled grey and three pairs of sheer nude in a colour I don't like. I think I need to be more adventurous this year but I find tights so expensive. Where do you all get yours from?

How do you manage to store them all?
Do you need a full drawer for them.

I think a lot are Dorothy Perkins. M&S have some nice packs of mixed dark colours. Uniqlo are good quality.

Yes they are a whole drawer.

Oh god, I don't even dare count mine. They don't even fit in one drawer.

I also need to sort out my socks - how many is a sensible number of socks?

It's really hard - there are quite a few pairs that would be perfectly fine with boots but can't be worn with shoes.

Do I really have to chuck them?

I don't have any place to keep them separate, not really.

Mine are in a calico shopping bag on the door handle.
But I didn't wear tights much last year - mostly wore leggings and socks under my skirts and dresses with boots as they last longer than tights and at two pairs for a tenner (and five pairs socks for something lime £2.50) work out cheaper!

10 pairs of decent socks I think.

I am inspired though, I may have a tights clear out too, I hate rummaging for a good pair, it would be fabulous to go to the drawer and just take some in the right shade, knowing they'll be good. Little pleasures...

I completely agree Chewbecca. Anything that makes my mornings run a little more smoothly makes me feel good!

I could hang a bag on the back of the door with the "boots only" tights, and keep the "actually nice ones" in the drawer.

And only wear the "actually nice ones" if I am wearing shoes, or if there are no "boots only" tights available.

I fear I probably have far more than 30 pairs of tights. But I wear dresses nearly every day and am a bit of a kleptomaniac when I spot tights in a new colour.

I would probably guess about 40-50 pairs ! Some are still in unopened packets waiting for the right occasion and right outfit to be worn with. I am a tights aholic and am always buying them. Buy all colours and styles and not many days in year as i dont wear them. But like everyone else it seems, i have boots and shoes tights that have been worn. Thought i must be the only one, but obviously not it seems ! Lol
