Help me spend my little windfall!

I've just received an unexpected windfall of just over £300. I want to spend it on a single item, a little luxury treat for me. I don't really 'need' anything so would welcome your ideas please s&b ladies.

As a starter for 10 I have been lusting after THIS though now I can justify it I have a few doubts that it's too bold and large-print for me and that I'm imagining it as pashmina fabric when its much lighter silk-modal mix.Confused

Congratulations!

I would actually recommend that you spend the money on something a bit more substantial, and that you could get much more wear out of.

For example, a leather jacket. It would last for years, and will always be a wardrobe staple. Don't automatically go for black - sometimes chocolate or caramel can be even better. You don't need to necessarily go for some top designer brand either - for £300 you can get a very good quality jacket in a department store.

Otherwise, I would recommend a skirt. A dress is always nice, but there aren't many ways to dress it differently unless you get something quite plain - whereas a skirt you can dress differently with ease.

Congrats!

I wouldn't pay full price for a scarf like that, it'll go half price in the Jan sales.

How about a really fab coat? Or if it were me, I'd blow it on a bag.

Are you anywhere near Bicester or the like? Head there with an open mind perhaps? They have Anya Hindmarch and Mulberry outlets.

sleepdodger · 20/09/2014 06:37

Id buy a beautiful purse watch or piece of jewellery, and I'd wAit till the selfridges dec voucher day!
Brands would be respectively
Mulberry, Marc Jacobs or georg Jensen, and again georg Jensen or small independent

KristinaM · 20/09/2014 06:40

I agree with Kay Kay - a leather jacket, handbag or a piece of jewellery

KristinaM · 20/09/2014 06:45

I'd get something like a prada wallet

Trumpton · 20/09/2014 07:08

Oh if I had a windfall I would buy a cashmere travel wrap. I always travel with a large pashmina shawl but would love one of THESE

toptrumps1 · 20/09/2014 09:47

Def wait for the sales/discount code days and get something £600 half price. Spend the time before then doing your research and trying things on do you're ready. I'd go for a leather jacket, bag, or jewellery. Lucky you!

mrsdimmock · 20/09/2014 09:51

Id go look at Monica Vinader jewellery - i've a bracelet & i adore it. monica vinader

silversixpence · 20/09/2014 09:57

I would get the Mimi Berry Hebe bag it is gorgeous

ZaraW · 20/09/2014 11:22

I also love beautiful scarves the one you linked is lovely but 85% modal at that price is outrageous even at 50% discount I think is overpriced.

I get mine from apeacetreaty.com/pages/shop they have some in the sale or the winter ones are just lovely they are also ethically produced.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/09/2014 11:32

I agree that a leather jacket would be good, or a lovely winter coat which will last you for years. I wouldn't spend anywhere near that much on a scarf tbh.

In fact, personally, I'd buy a jacket/coat and a pair of boots - £300 would get lovely versions of both of those things with ease.

buttercrumble · 20/09/2014 12:15

How about a mulberry purse Smile

Madaboutthrows · 20/09/2014 12:44

I would choose a bag that you will love for years to come.

Bonsoir · 20/09/2014 14:45

I'd spend the whole £300 on a beautiful sweater.

HolgerDanske · 20/09/2014 14:51

It would be a handbag, coat or leather jacket for me too.

Shopgirl1 · 20/09/2014 15:46

I'd go with a leather jacket-I think with that budget I would go with All Saints.

BoldFossil · 20/09/2014 15:49

Not the scarf!!

Handbag watch or coat yes

Floisme · 20/09/2014 15:57

Congratulations! I'm repeating myself from another thread but I would buy some Brora cashmere or an Equipment silk shirt - you may manage both in the sales. Or have something made bespoke - I don't know what £300 would get you but that's my idea of real luxury. A leather jacket also sounds good. I wouldn't spend it on a scarf or a bag but that's just me.

Nancy66 · 20/09/2014 16:09

I'd go for a great pair of boots from Ash, a winter coat - maybe somewhere like Whistles or Cos.

Or, if you really want designer, I'd go for a Miu Miu wallet

HolgerDanske · 20/09/2014 18:29

I like the leopard print handbag in the All Saints biker collection.

Yum yum.

Notcontent · 20/09/2014 21:04

Definitely not the scarf - you can get some wonderful scarves for £100 or less that are pure wool/silk.
