Boden sizing

Do they tend to come up on the larger or smaller side? Looking at some sale things.

It can vary but the reviews usually give you a clue. With sale stuff I would buy both sizes and send one back, you can always find a code for free returns.

Definitely look at the reviews, I find they are pretty spot on with one or two things coming up big. They also seem to be designed for taller frames so if you are on the shorter side, best to look at the petite range.

Thanks. I'm never confident of sizing - 8 or 10 usually. Reviews a good idea, or yes, I could order both and not be lazy about returns!

Their sizes are huge. I'm a size 6 in Boden and I'm normally an 8 (sometimes a 10 in tops/dresses if they're cut small across the chest). If I liked their stuff more it would annoy me.

Passmethecrisps · 19/09/2014 21:40

I bought two dresses in the sale recently - both 10s. One was sack like and the other was very tight and short. I think it is absolutely dependant on the style so like others I would buy both sizes if possible.

netty36 · 19/09/2014 21:56

I'm an 8 in their tops.... Huge.
10 in dresses... Perfect.
But 12 in their trousers as tight legs and narrow hips but I'm a 10 everywhere else and a 28 inch waist.

solosolong · 19/09/2014 22:03

I find their sizes vary enormously - mostly they come up large, but then every now and again something is tiny. I once bought the same top in two different colours and the sizing is completely different in both. One is really fitted and the other baggy.

I have always thought it strange that for a mail-order company they don't do more to ensure consistency in their sizing.

Pollywallywinkles · 19/09/2014 22:08

I've only ordered one thing from them; a dress. The sizing was sort of ok, in that another size would not have fit me, but the shape was most peculiar to say the least. Small on the chest and massive on the hips. This had been pointed out in the reviews which I didn't take enough notice of.

I will never shop with them again as I don't have enough time to reschedule deliveries or pick them up from neighbours or to have the time to send them back. Boden is not for me.

SofaCanary · 20/09/2014 02:10

I find their trousers to be on the mean side.

mirpuppet · 20/09/2014 14:57

I ordered 4 clearance dresses that were delivered today -- all too big. All going back. I have ordered the smaller size for 2 of them to compare.

polyhymnia · 20/09/2014 15:22

I find the sizing very variable and rely a lot on the sensible reviews.

Greengardenpixie · 20/09/2014 15:23

I find their trousers to be particularly small at the waist for me. I find the skirts sit high on the waist which i dislike greatly. Their dresses are ok and tops and jumpers fine.

LoonvanBoon · 20/09/2014 17:53

It varies. I find most of their tops fairly true to size, but the silky / dressier ones tend to be very large & I size down. I size up in their cashmere.

I hardly ever buy any of their bottoms as I'm an apple shape & find I need a 14 for the waist - I'm usually a 12 - & then the item is way too big at the hip / thigh. I did once buy a pencil skirt that was okay. I usually avoid their dresses for the same reason.

I also can't get their jackets / coats to fit. Recent ones I've tried have looked massive at the front in my usual size, but felt quite tight across the shoulder at the back. And I have narrow shoulders, so not sure what's going on there.

The good thing about Boden is that the measurements for individual items are there on the website. They're not always accurate, but do give some idea if something is likely to come up big or small.
