PEAR SHAPED? Try M&S boot cut cords - seriously!

ignore the awful picture these cords are cut with a slim boot cut coming from mid calf and have a muffin top hiding high cut waist band. IMO good for pear shaped me.
They managed to illicit a compliment last night from DH too

And 20% off codes for this weekend make them just over £15 a pair.

Length wise - I have the "long" ones which are just long enough for me to wear with flat boots (am 5ft9)

What tops d you plan to wear with them?

sweetheart · 18/09/2014 12:17

I wouldn't mind trying these for winter. What's the discount code please?

Longdistance · 18/09/2014 12:20

Out of interest, what length is your inside leg measurement? I'm 5'10", and am curious of the length of them.

francesdrake · 18/09/2014 12:59

If those cords are flattering on - which I'm perfectly prepared to believe they are, btw! - then it's yet another example of M&S website stylists doing the clothes a massive disservice, because all those shots would have me running for the hills. The beige pair even have a cameltoe with no one inside them.

Why can't they style clothes with the right shoes even?! It's not like they don't have a whole shop to choose from.

leedy · 18/09/2014 13:08

Yes, the photos on the website make them look awful, wouldn't even consider trying them if the OP hadn't praised them.

Hebburnisaplaceonearth · 18/09/2014 13:38

Looks like they have identical ones in straight leg too. They could be good for work for me (teaching) if the waistband isn't too muffin top revealing :D

Chocolateteabag · 18/09/2014 17:41

Hi all - SEP14A69 will give you 20% off online today to 22Sep

Long Distance - the Long is only 32inches and on me is just ok - tis the only downside

francesdrake - I saw and tried them on I store first and then ordered the other colours online with 20% off. You are right, it's like they don't want to sell clothes online their pictures are that bad!

I am wearing the wine coloured ones today with a boden crew neck t shirt (and had a crew neck jumper on until the sun came out) ie hip length - not showing off the high waist but having it means tops stay tucked in and my flab is contained a bit more!

These m&s jeans are also ridiculously slimming on pear shapes. I had a baby and am a 14 rather than my usual 12 but these hold in all the excess tummy wobble. Great stretch and price!

Grump. Wish they came in navy as I'm looking for some navy trousers, and these look like they'd be suitable for my less smart work days.

mixedpeel · 18/09/2014 20:00

Oh, those you've linked to do come in navy, Oly! Probably better than cords for work, too. Hm. Glad to have recommendations, because as everyone has said, they look pretty poor on the website.

mixedpeel · 18/09/2014 20:05

Arse. Out of stock. Surely these are the sort of standard type stuff that will come back in..?

Chocolateteabag · 18/09/2014 20:39

Mixed peel - the "dark teal" cords are pretty much navy - although on the gray blue side rather than a purply blue (IYKWIM)

Next have some navy blue boot cut cords in the shops (but not online yet) for £22 which I also have (needed navy cord trousers hence why I tried the M&S ones in the first place) they are more of a true navy, but their rise isn't as high as the M&S ones.

Oh i love the next ones. I have a black pair and a pale grey pair. I have ordered a plum pair and blue ones from their christmas preview. They do have them in store though as i was in and saw them hanging up. They are so comfy and seriously make you look so much slimmer. My mum said they looked great!! Well done Next!

mixedpeel · 18/09/2014 21:53

Ah, thanks for further tips, choc and pixie. Next is easier for me to get to, so will try there first.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/09/2014 22:02

those pictures would make me run screaming rather than purchase
m&s website is shocking

Oly4 · 18/09/2014 22:29

The stretch jean things do come back into stock. The navy ones are lovely, dark and flattering. Worth keeping an eye out.

nancy75 · 18/09/2014 22:34

M&S need to sack their web stylists - who would put those cords with those shoes? If they seriously think that is how people should dress they should give up on clothing altogether.

Op thank you for the tip - the cords will do me for work with converse

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 13:48

Thanks for the tip! Was just struggling with my annual trouser dilemma again. Will go check them out!

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 14:26

Reporting back - v nice OP! Still a bit too tight over my v thunderous thighs but v nice and a bargain. If anyone is like me can I recommend H and M Logg chinos in relaxed fit - there's just the summer weight ones in near me but apparently they will be getting warmer ones in later on.

Coumarin · 19/09/2014 15:01

I'm willing to give them a whirl next time I'm in there.

But dear lord that is the most unflattering pic I've ever seen on there and I'm including the leather dungarees in that. What on earth was the stylist thinking? Was it 6pm on a Friday night when they did the shoot and she couldn't be arsed anymore or what? Shock

mixedpeel · 19/09/2014 15:26

Is there anything in the theory that if trousers are cut to flatter a pear, they are going to look a bit rubbish on the model? Not that that should be an excuse for putting them with barmily inappropriate top/footwear though.
